Great Place to Stay in a Safe, Fun Part of London

Tavistock Hotel is a great spot to stay in London! The neighborhood was very active and quite safe, with a university right next door. Several underground and national rail stations are nearby, getting around was very easy. We traveled to the usual tourist places (central London, Buckingham palace, Kensington Palace, Greenwich, as well as Wembley Stadium and it was an easy ride to all of them. The room was small, but very clean and comfortable. There is no AC, so be prepared, the rooms have fans so we didn't have any trouble with the temperature. The restaurant is another great reason to stay there. The Indian food and pub food is both excellent and is absolutely worth trying while you are there. We would definitely stay here again!

Staff had excellent customer service skills. I was able to check in before 2pm and beds were very comfortable. Room was super clean. The only downfall is the plumbing and bathroom. Bathtub very high- some people may have difficulty actually getting into it. The water backed up in the tub during my shower and there is literally no way to take a shower without flooding the bathroom. Toilet wouldn't even flush toilet paper....I did report this at the front desk and I believe they sent someone while I was out but there was no change.

No AC, somehow I missed this part, or it was never shown, so recommend anyone to check the review from the month that you will be traveling. So if you are going in Jun then check the reviews in Jun or July then you might see the no AC reviews. As for me, I booked the trip in the winter month and all the recent reviews didn't mention anything about AC and how warm the rooms can be. However the breakfast is excellent and the AC in the dining room is very strong. Area is very convenient however since the window is wide open, the street noise is unavoidable. Good value if you don't need the AC.

Döme of the staff was excellent. The afternoon receptionist, a girl whose name I can't recall, was very rude. The seventh floor where we had been accommodated was a human oven too hot and not so clean. When we asked to be moved, the availability for a triple room was low, so we moved the day after our arrival. That night was sleepless.

The location, service, staff, restaurant food and bar, are all great. However, The rooms are really outdated and there is no air conditioning, which makes it unbearable hot in the hotel halls and rooms. All you get is a portable fan. It’s a shame, because this hotel has so much potential if they would just make some upgrades.
