Portugal was 95 degrees and window of room was open which I thought was an unusual. At 4 o’clock in the morning I was woken by a terrible smell. The whole room smelled of sewer. By 8 o’clock the smell was unbearable and I went down to the front desk. I asked for the manager she said that she knows what the smell is like and that they can’t guarantee that another room in the hotel would not smell like that. I can’t imagine that smell is not dangerous. I had to leave the hotel. They reimbursed me for one night, but not for the inconvenience of having to wake up at 4 AM in the morning smelling sewer. Hotel over all was ok and clean, breakfast was nice and front desk people were ok. But you will be gambling that your room may or may not smell like the worst most stinky portapotty ever that you have the pleasure to pay for. Just thinking about it makes me gag.

Great Stay

I stayed for three nights while on a research trip for a local university. The hotel had everything I needed—good Wi-Fi, a clean room, and a nice breakfast. Having free access to tea and coffee was great. Perhaps more cold drinks would have been good, but that is a very minor point. Local shops were good.

Lovely views. Great hotel.

We stayed in room 703 and it was amazing. Views from the balcony were perfect. Great location - and a short walk to the metro. However the bathroom would not be suitable for any tall person. I an 173cm and any taller would be a slight issue. Staff were also welcoming and pleasant.

Nice clean hotel

The hotel was nice and clean. Staff was friendly and very helpful…the room was clean, but a little darker lighting in my opinion…and the bed was positioned off the side of the head board. I couldn’t have easy access on the outlet on my side. There was free coffee and tea which is always nice. 8-10 min walk to Metro…Recommend to use hotel car service for airport or train station. cheaper than uber or taxi. We use it for train station to go to Porto and paid €34… well worth it than hauling luggage on cobble stone.

Staff were most helpful. Lived the 24/7 cogfee, popcorn, and cake. Restaursnt and tour recommendations were appreciated. Front fedk clerk assisted me in settingup a pedicure on Mother’s Day . What a treat. Room was small but the bed was suoerbly comfortsble. The included breakfast offered a wife vsriety of choices that were presented well. . I als enjoyed the patio .

We stayed at the M’AR De AR Auria for several nights while in Lisbon. This is a boutique type hotel located toward the northern part of Lisbon and outside the more touristy areas. There are plenty of good restaurants around the area and if you enjoy walking it is not too far to the Chiado and Baixa for sightseeing, shopping and dining. We walked from the hotel to Chiado/Baixa and to Alfama two days. The only transportation we used was to and from the hotel as well as to tours outside of Lisbon. We picked this hotel mainly for the gym facilities. The hotel has one of the better gyms that we found when searching hotels in Lisbon. The gym is open 24/7 for hotel guests. Being outside the more tourist attraction areas the hotel is also more affordable and attractively priced. This hotel is modern and super clean. It is very well designed but compact. The elevator feels small even for two people and the rooms are small but more than adequate. We did not spend much time in the room. The bathroom, in particular, is smaller than we'd like. Other than that, they have a good breakfast and an outdoor court that is very nice. The staff very friendly. Overall, we liked this hotel and will stay here again in the future.
