In general I love to stay Hilton especially DoubleTree. But this one in Hilo, it's completely disappointed. The room was not clean; snacks were on floor, toilet paper was on bathtub, towels had yellow stain and someone's hair. And so many cockroaches throughout the room. Over the night we had roaches on our bed and on our face. Couldn't stand the stay. My husband asked for refund but the front desk staff said she cannot do anything until her manager comes at 0600, which was too late for us due to the flight schedule, so we had to pay full price for roach infested room. I love Hilo but will not go back to the hotel.

This property is completely under construction. The rooms don't have any pictures up. There are plenty holes in the walls where pictures were. The hallways need paint and flooring. I was assigned aroom that was clearly not well cleaned by the hair and ring in the tub.. i was sent to another roomdown by the janitorial and laundry room which i declined..I finally landed in room 644, great views but still no pictures on the walls. The really need to charge a renovation rate because this hotel's not worth the price i paid thru Expedia!!!

1. While registering in on our first day, we asked whether the tap water in the hotel was drinkable. We were not given a clear answer. It could be simply an "yes" or "no". Instead, what we received were rude tongue-in-cheek facetious remarks: "if you feel comfortable with it", "don't know about the hotel's water filtering system", and "bottled waters are always sold in vending machines in the hotel". Thus they managed to ruin our mood from the first moment. You should train your reception desk for a more professional response. (Even the Holiday Inn Express reception was more professional and helpful. And, of course, they guaranteed the drinkability of their tap water.) 2. After a long day of hiking we came back to a room that was not cleaned. When we checked with the hotel, apparently, the reception desk had forgotten to mention at the registration that we needed to explicitly specify whether our room should be cleaned. They said they would do it the following day. 3. Who still uses bar soap any more in USA - as opposed to liquid soap - as hand soap in a hotel bathroom where there can be multiple guests? It is so unhygienic. Did not expect the above experiences in a Hilton unit. So will think twice before booking one next time. Only good thing about the hotel were thelittle guys managing the valet parking: they were prompt, cheerful and helpful.

It was fine. Keep in mind this is probably the nicest property in Hilo. Probably because of that it was super busy. Rooms were alright.

I would come back

Beautiful views at this hotel. Large lanai. Room is a nice size and beds were comfortable. Artwork was removed and room needs painting. I wish they still had the beautiful hula artwork! Bring it back. Checking was delayed but they did look after us. Nice staff and very quick valet service. I would return if I come back to visit Hilo.

Front Desk did not notice us when we arrived to check in. We were placed in a terrible room on the 3rd floor. Walls are paper thin, you can hear the neighbors conversations and when they use the bathroom. Property is very old and outdated. It is next to the ocean which is cool but the hotel is not at a Hilton level.
