The upkeep of the hotel, the attention to detail, and the quality of customer service were superb! It does not get better than this. The level of attention and responsiveness to each of us is as if there are nobody else at the hotel.

A beautiful Historic property. Staff was nice and helpful. Especially, we like to thank Yu for her help at the front desk. She gave me a lot of help. There's a bus stop 2 minutes away from the hotel. The only complaint is you need to make a reservation for dinner a day before, which I had no knowledge of when we checked in.

A very quiet historical hotel with a beautiful garden. The staff were helpful and responsive. The restaurants in the hotel were excellent and happy hour in the lounge.

Hotel is classic. A historical beauty that has been through a wonderful renovation. I stayed there in the 1960s and they have preserved things very well. The only disappointment was the dining room for dinner. Food is very pricey, but not that good. Plus they rushed us out after one hour as they had a big tour group they needed to accommodate. Thought the maitre’d was rather rude in that process and unexpected from a hotel of this caliber.

Historic Gem of a Hotel

The Hotel is simply amazing Historic and Pristine And other than an issue with the Server at the French/Main Dining Room everything else was fantastic Staff was extremely fine and you have to watch the Video of the 2018-2020 Gut Restoration to truly see what went into the Hotel. It's a Gem. As is the whole area Don't miss the Open Area Museum

The Fujiya reeks of history and elegance. The rooms are very spacious. The ambiance is sublime. We are so pleased we stayed at this hotel. The staff and quality of service was excellent. The sauna and spa facilities were 1st class. A couple of minor issues - the beds were a touch on the firm side. And the range of choice for breakfast was limited. However, in every other respect, the Fujiya will be a highlight of our time in Japan.

The Fujiya Hotel is a historic gem in an unforgettable setting, with a staff that is extremely friendly, competent and professional. It’s a one-of-a-kind experience with a beautiful onsite onsen, and easy access to all the best that Hakone has to offer. Definitely one of my all-time favourite travel experiences!

The hotel was beautiful, restaurants wonderful and breakfast amazing but really disappointed that the onsen (outside pool) was closed. This was no due to weather but apparently the case being Sep despite 26 degree weather. This should have been communicated through website information or at time of booking as this is a highlight to going to an onsen area. Especially this quiet an area, one night was enough.

Overpriced

The hotel was beautiful but overpriced! The A/C in our room did not cool so we spent a very uncomfortable night there. The room was over $500 and for that price I would expect a nice cool room. The service excellent but again not worth the price.
