Four of us (all adults) spent just one night in Glasgow and had reserved three rooms at the hotel months in advance. When we arrived, the check-in was smooth and the staff gave us terrific recommendations for dinner (we chose The Butterfly & The Pig and were very satisfied!). The room my boyfriend and I stayed in was super cute and comfortable, and we were surprised by how quite it was given the location. The building used to be the Education Department and the architecture both inside and outside was really cool. The breakfast in the hotel restaurant was yummy, too. We slept well and the location served as a good base for our adventures :)

Worst hotel I have stayed in

Unexpectedly the pictures definitely make the place look better than it is and I hastily booked without checking out the reviews. I guess it is a charming wee hotel and the lift an interesting feature however I probably wouldn't stay here again. The original room we were allocated wasn't the cleanest and having what appeared to be pubic hair in the bath was slightly off-putting. We were upgraded to a new room which appeared much cleaner but as others have said the bathrooms are dated. Location was perfect for us and the event we were attending, and luckily it was only an overnight. Personally, if you are considering this hotel you may want to just book a premier inn or travel lodge instead since you know what to expect for the cost. I'm also surprised no-one has mentioned the weird smell that seems to be around once you have used your card to get through the first doors to the corridor of rooms as well as the rooms themselves. This was prevalent in both floor 3, the room and floor 2 and the upgraded room. The windows in the room do not open and the air con is just a con as the room was warm and had no air all night, as well as the constant noise of the machine meant we were unable to sleep at all. We left at 8am, and the blast of fresh air when leaving the hotel is a feeling of relief we will never forget! Staff were nice and personable so no faults there.

A few issues with our stay. The room smelled really bad all three days - like burnt rubber. The A/C (at least there was one) would not cool the room down enough - we were very warm all the time. In addition this is the first room in Scotland that we booked that had no fridge. Finally, parking is not user friendly. It's across the street (VERY narrow entrance) and very $$. Hotel discount did not work for us when we tried to process it online. I would not stay here again.

Beautiful building. Good location. A few issues unfortunately ..,, Initial receptionist did not have much local knowledge. Very weak air conditioning- fan was give and an alternative room was offered when reported. Sockets by dressing table not working. Dusty curtains. Room smelt musty. Wooden furniture looked very tired. Descriptions state recently renovated…. Partially evident. Very basic bathroom- not 4* standard. No hooks, one hand towel for two guests. Not clean. Room not cleaned after night one despite being assured as had read previous reviews that it would be. Team that we reported this to were apologetic, and tried to improve the situation, offering breakfast the next day. Warmth and local breakfast recommendation helpful. Thanked for feedback

Before getting to room, the carpet was very noticeably dirty. Got to room it was just as bad. They really need to considervremoving carpet all together and go with flooring. Dirty carpet is germ..y. The chair was very badly stained & dirty. Would not sit on it. If I had booked more than 1 night, no way would I have stayed. Worth loosing money for a healthy situation. The room was spacious, bed comfortable & believe me when I tell you I sterilized all inanimate objects & sprayed vigorously with Lysol. Bedbugs could really live there, Please update your hotel, becausevyour nice staff does not deserve a bad review of the place where they work. The agents/ clerks your very nice & friendly clerks on checkin and checkout. Very nice & helpful.

We had a lovely stay, the staff were very friendly and the breakfast was excellent. Only negative feedback was that we book a junior suite and I clearly stipulated that we had two teenagers who required a proper bed and we were given a fold out sofa bed which was extremely uncomfortable. Definitely not suitable for young adults, despite requesting sleeping arrangements suitable for them.
