The morning front office and breakfast staff were excellent in all respects - efficiency; friendliness; helpfulness; attitude towards guests etc. Sadly this did not extend to the afternoon/evening crew: never greeted incoming guests with a smile on returning over 4 days; guests were treated as an inconvenience to deal with; not welcomed with a smile on checking in - sign here 3 times; lifts around the corner first door on right; here are your keys; bye! Arrived on a very wet night with several bags; cab driver very helpful but was chewed out by a male supervisor for putting a bag against an automatic door but made no effort to move it or take to reception to assist couple in mid-70's; just kept scowling. Thanks so much. Welcome to the Hampton. Observed this same attitude to other incoming guests - not an isolated case at all. Morning crew 5/5; evening 2/5 and being generous. Breakfast food selection good and replenished quickly; tables cleaned promptly; staff friendly and courteous. Maintenance staff fixed a door issue promptly but liaison was with morning crew. Certainly a mixed bag. Rooms are smallish but adequate and housekeeping done efficiently. Maybe management could observe for them selves discreetly and make some changes in attitudes.
