A 'Chalet' Diamond in the Rough

I have stayed in really bad places. This is not one of them, but could have been much, much better. It is a contractors trailer converted to a 'Chalet'. Kinda. If you look at the pictures online, they are NOT what you are getting. We stayed there June 4, 2025. You would think this is a wonderful place right next to a flowing stream (from the pictures). It is only June, and it is bone dry and dusty. There is a dirt/gravel drive down to the Chalet -- short but steep. But you wanted to be 'away', right? The pictures do not show the huge black water tank. Nor do they show the 'every 5 minutes' running water pump. Ok, lets go inside. You do not get the large kitchen shown in the pictures, you get a very small microwave, small refrig, dishes, table and coffee maker. (they are not shown in the picture). There is NO storage for clothes, in fact that small stand in the pics is no longer there. In its place on the wall is a gas heater (good thing the weather was warm, because even tho there are signs 'do not unplug', it was unplugged). If you like really hard beds you are in luck, because the bed is HARD. The bathroom is ok --- there is even a soap dispenser there (that is labeled 'for dishes'). The shower is nice, but the hot water continues to go very hot then cold then hot. The TV did not work (a battery missing from the Roku remote). The 'patio' consists of two slightly dusty chairs and a glass table, and the BBQ has no propane tank. It is a little 'rough'....

Great location and price for one night alone. Very good water pressure and hot showers after hiking the park all day. Bed was comfortable and room was cold with the AC… what else do you need? Oh, the food was excellent at the restaurant as well. Hey have very friendly dogs too. Great place.

This is more of a camping kind of facility. No frills but clean and safe. The proprietors were friendly and accommodating. If you like a little adventure and can forego some creature comforts it’s close to the park entrance which is a great plus. Food is good. We would stay again.

Good location for visiting Kings Canyon

Friendly staff and very accommodating. Stayed here when visiting Kings Canyon. Room was very small and tight space in bathroom but very clean. Bed was comfortable. Gena's restaurant was great and very friendly staff.

We arrived a little later than planned however were able to get food at the restaurant which the pot roast was the best I’ve ever had ! The staff were all so friendly and helpful ! The accommodation was clean and such an awesome place to stay

We had a great experience here. It was very close the the park. The restaurant was open late and Gena was very friendly. Highly recommend!
