Have you ever felt like you needed to get away from it all, even when you were already on holiday? Well, if you’re headed to Vietnam and want a place to really unwind, the serene beach and quiet town of Ninh Chu fits the bill perfectly. This fantastic destination on the southeast coast is beautiful - a great spot to simply settle in and leave the bustling world behind. It is a great contrast to the wild and happening beach town of Mui Ne or Ho Chi Minh City, so make sure you get some down time in one of our Ninh Chu hotels!
The main attraction here is undoubtedly the pristine Ninh Chu Beach. Lush green hills overlook the lovely long crescent of sand and the waters are fab for swimming in. Admiring it all from a beach towel on the sand is just as good! The vibe is quiet and chilled, and even in nearby scenic fishing towns, traditional wooden boats gently bob next to their moorings. Ninh Chu a special place. In fact, its calmness is so inviting that the President of South Vietnam reserved the whole beach for a trip during the mid-20th century, but the spot is still popular with locals today.
Whilst you can easily be distracted by the natural attractions, you can also discover ancient architecture, which is perfect for day trips when you’ve had enough of sunbathing and whiling away the hours on the sand. The most popular one, Po Kong Garai Cham Tower, is eight kilometres west of Phan Rang Town next to Ninh Chu. This gorgeous brown stone structure was built in the 13th century by the people of Cham. It sits on top of a grassy hill and an impressive archway leads you towards intricate roof turrets and small battlements. Lower down on the hill is a building that displays photography of the area as well as souvenirs.
It’s hard to stay in Ninh Chu and not try the local food, but you won’t regret it! Great seafood is sold at reasonable prices in the many restaurants near the beach, and roadside stalls give you even cheaper – but also delicious – options including pho (Vietnamese noodle soup) and com tam (grilled pork on rice). You might find your mouth watering every time you think back for the first few weeks after your holiday.
To reach Ninh Chu you can hop on a bus from Ho Chi Minh City or the coastal cities of Nha Trang, Mui Ne or Phan Thiet. Once there, the many motorbike taxis are the best way to get around.
So, are you ready to get away from it all? Try something different, look past the brochures and instead try the path less travelled. Check out our Ninh Chu accommodation and find your own peaceful corner of Vietnam.
