My husband and I stayed in mid-June for the 1st Annual Midwest Convention (held onsite), and while the event was great, the hotel’s accessibility and amenities were seriously lacking.
There was insufficient parking for wheelchair users, which created immediate challenges. My husband is in a wheelchair, and I have a back issue, so this matters. There was no microwave in our room, and I had to call the front desk just to find out there were only two microwaves in the entire hotel, both located in the lobby. With a full hotel and many guests, this was completely impractical—especially for those with mobility concerns.
Worse, the elevators malfunctioned, leaving us stuck on the 13th floor. If there had been an emergency, we would’ve had no safe way down. That’s not an inconvenience—that’s a safety risk.
This hotel must do better to support guests with disabilities. Accessibility is not optional. It’s essential.
