There were so many things wrong that I don't know where to start. The hotel needs to be rehabbed: cracks in the walls, paint peeling from the walls, bathroom shower faucet broken (and broken item sitting on tub), rust on fixtures, wall fixtures was broken (e.g., soap dispenser), fridge didn't get cold. There was no hot water, TV didn't connect to wi-fi, TV repeatedly powered off within 20 seconds of cutting it on but powered on during the night while I was asleep, towels/cloths were old and thin. That was inside the room. The outside matched: old rugs, doors are difficult to open/close due to wear/tear, key card reader didn't work, elevator rickety, walls/doors scratched up and peeling, trash piled up atop lobby trash bins, visible dust, dirt, and trash particles on carpet, soda machine didn't give cold soda. The hotel also doubles as an SRO so there are people who live a vagabond lifestyle staying there. That was actually the most redeeming quality- they provide supportive housing to lower SES persons, but I'd like to have been prepared for that before I booked. They were nice however. I conversed with several. But, you can imagine the conflict that arose from other guests who did not expect the aesthetics to be what they were. This just intensified frustrations and made the stay uncomfortable.

The hotel was filthy upon arrival. There were stains on the floors, items on the curtains, and the room reeked of smoke. Ash was present in the window, with lingering ash marks on the curtains. The bathtub contained debris. There was sticky residue on the table, and the HDMI port was non-functional. I attempted to seek assistance from the front desk, but was informed that no housekeeper was available at that time, so I had to request cleaning supplies to tidy up the mess myself. The room did not resemble the photos; the AC unit was broken and propped up by a wooden plank. The chair provided was completely worn out. When I pulled back the sheets, I discovered that the mattress was brown. This hotel is extremely shabby and the staff wasn’t really any help. Do not book with them.

The room obviously was thoroughly cleaned. The floor, however felt uneven, as if the carpet was not layed flat; which caused me to feel off-balanced walking through the room. Oh, I presume that's what they endeavored to fix: since the next day, unrelenting drilling, banging and construction noise made it unbearable to live there... Fortunately, the front desk resolved the issue by relocating me to another floor as far away from the nuisance as possible. An impeccable suite was available as soon as I expressed my dissatisfaction with the situation. Although I wished I didn't have to go through that, I've got to give credit to their quick problem-solving ability, which caused that rough start to turn out okay. In other words, all is well that ends well.
