Things to do
The beach is ideal for sun seekers (but only in summer) and those who like relaxation Laze on the sand, gallop along on the back of a horse, or take a dip in the refreshing waters. You can also enjoy kayaking, fishing, and deep sea boat trips to see seals and whales (June to October) in their natural environment. Delicious and fresh seafood is plentiful, and you may even see local fishermen out at work in the sea. If you head to the jetty, you can see giant manta rays and huge snapper just swimming around! Take a drive along the famous and scenic Great Ocean Road or walk dazzling stretches for amazing views and crisp sea air. A nearby rock formation is a favourite place for visitors – beautiful and magical, the rocks rise out of the waters and have been named the Twelve Apostles.
Apollo Bay is also conveniently situated for adventures in the forests, with lots of opportunities for bush walking, hiking and biking. There are several lovely waterfalls to discover and those with a fearless spirit can lose their head for heights on a high treetop walk. Nature lovers will not be disappointed with plenty of creatures calling the area home. Enjoy fossicking, visit the country's oldest lighthouse on the mainland, and have the time of your life in Apollo Bay.
