Only one elevator which was out of commission for part of a day although it was repaired. Had to borrow a swiffer from front desk to remove all of the spider webs. Had to kill numerous spiders. A/C unit condensate drained onto the balcony instead of being directed to a drain. Mattress was uncomfortable. Numerous stains and streaks on seemingly recently painted walls and ceiling (probably from others killing spiders.) Great location, great views, courteous staff. Great price. But could be so much nicer (maybe if it was privately owned?)

They had just finished some upgrades, some still in progress. Decent hotel, nice view, beach access was nice. Centrally located to everything we were doing that weekend. Did find a used cup behind the chair that wasn't cleaned.

Decent hotel on the shores of Lake Michigan

Some issues with cleanliness of our rooms at check in. Fake eyelashes stuck to the lamp, visible dirt on the floors, etc. Requested rooms to be cleaned and they were while we went to dinner. Overall stay was average. Hotel is older but location was nice. Short 1 min walk to the beach.

Beach trip

The place is older but clean. Very convenient to have a private beach steps away. Front Staff was awful. They could use a smile and some customer service training. Overall it was good.

Unclean rooms- even other guests were having complaints about bloody bedding, and the front desk staff didn’t seem bothered. We had fingernails all over, and food in the microwave from previous guests. Elevators broken all weekend. No food or bar options available until 10:30 according to staff. Great location bc of the beach. Wouldn’t recommend otherwise

Front desk staff and dining staff and dining staff were nice people. However, this place was filthy. My room was never properly cleaned although I asked to have it cleaned twice. Hair was everywhere; there was a glob of something sticking to the power strip cord near the TV. It looked as if a latte or something was thrown at the phone. It was covered in dried whatever it was. As was the nightstand and wall behind the nightstand. They didn't even bother to clean the room on Saturday. I had to go ask for towels. The family that checked in before had the same problem. They left and returned later after their rooms were cleaned. It was so bad on the second floor that the night manager was up cleaning rooms. I will never stay there again. To bad because the location and atmosphere were great.

We were at the park for a family reunion in which family was staying at the resort, but the park is where the reunion was to be hosted. There was a storm expected right at the time we were to be having our reunion. The staff (specifically the resort manager) arranged to accommodate our group within the resort. It made for an incredible experience.

This is a great vacation spot for people who are not fans of big crowds. The hotel was very nice, quite clean, with a helpful staff. The beach was great and not crowded at all. It's sandy with a bit of small rocks as you wade in, so if your feet are sensitive, it might be good to wear water shoes. The water was cold, but we got used it easily. The rooms come with a microwave and fridge, so we brought our own food for breakfast and lunch. We ate at Nolan's, the restaurant on site, for dinner each day. The food was delicious and the staff were so friendly. Despite all of the sand and water we tried not to track in from the beach, the lobby is quite clean, and a relaxing place to sit. We also sat in the courtyard by a fire, which was enjoyable. This was our first time at Illinois Beach State Park and at this hotel. It won't be our last. This will be a yearly vacation destination for us!

See, I had no idea there was a beach resort in Illinois!! i think the locals have been keeping this gem a secret! You are literally right on an amazing beach and still in Illionis!

They havent updated the place in years the hot tub and pool is under construction and they dont know when it'll be up and running again, its very outdated and over priced but the staff is very friendly and its a few steps from the beach so thats nice

When I arrived. I looked around to see where I check in. When you walk in a restaurant is in front of you. No signage to indict where feont desk is. The lady at the little desk said "Can I help you?" I said check in?! She asked my name and ID. When I asked if it was lake view she had a attitude and said yes. The room WASN'T lake view. It was the rooftop. When i told her she said I wpuld have to contact hotels.com since i booked with them. The next morning we missed breakfast bc I wasnt informed when I checked in what time breakfast was. Thankfully there was a new front desk attendant and she got my kids some breakfast. The beach was absolutely beautiful and very clean. I do think they could put more garbage cans out so people can throw their trash away. Accessible bathrooms in hotel from the beach. Grest food at the restaurant. I would go back just not pay the extra for "lake view" bc I didn't get one.
