This was a very nice and clean hotel. However, we were there in January and it was extremely hot. There’s no air conditioning and if there is, she said it was off during the winter. We had to keep our siding glass door open during the night to be able to keep it cool enough to sleep. There is a sister hotel right next-door that does not have the word SHIN in it. My friend stayed there. They had AC so I would recommend it over this one. Breakfast is $35 so not the best place to eat, especially if you like American style. There’s not much to walk to in the area. The only place to get an ultimate breakfast would be 711 that is located inside the hotel or taking a cab to McDonald’s or somewhere else. So it is a beautiful hotel. They had a nice restaurant for lunch or dinner. I have nothing bad to say except that it was way too hot in there and again you couldn’t really walk anywhere to eat. they do speak English there so you can function, but they do not understand much at all. If you have to ask any difficult questions, lol. But you’ll check in and out just fine :-)

This was my first time in Japan and am very happy I chose this hotel. The hotel is in walking distance of the train station and dining options. I looked forward every morning to taking my morning walks in the beautiful garden. The Tully's coffee shop they in the lobby area is a must do, drip coffee is to die for. The hotel is very clean and well as the room I stayed. I look forward to return to this hotel in the future.

Staff was super friendly, 3 restaurants to choose from in the building, plus a 7-11 in the lower floor. Shinigawa station just a 5 minute walk away. Amazing view of Tokyo tower at night on the higher floors. Outside scenery around the hotel courtyard was a great bowtie on the end of our trip to Japan

Insufficient lighting in this hotel room. No bedside lights and no reading lights. Only overhead ceiling lights in the room. Prince Hotel Shin Tanakawa is located on a hill slope. For elderly or seniors, this hotel is not suitable to stay because of the location. From Shinagawa station, after crossing the street, hotel guests need to walk up the hill slope to reach the hotel. Too tiring for seniors, and definitely cannot walk up the slope with shopping bags or luggage. Need to take a cab. No wonder this hotel has a restaurant named the Slopeside restaurant!

The check-in process was unduly complicated by the staff's unwillingness to provide fundamental information, such as our floor and room number, which they responded to with irritation and frustration. On another occasion, we asked a different woman for help translating for our taxi driver to ensure we reached our destination, but she was initially uncooperative and dismissive. While the men were very helpful and kind to my sister and me, the women at the front desk and most of the concierge staff were also rude.
Bedroom view, we didn’t bother taking pictures of an outdated ugly room.

The entire staff are very nice and very helpful! Our room was quiet and very clean with a nice view of Tokyo Tower. The hotel is conveniently only a 10 minute walk from Shinagawa Station making our travel needs very easy to meet.
We could see Tokyo Tower from our room.
