Asakusa1976 is a well presented property within a unique and historic part of Tokyo. The facilities are new and it is very clean. There were some issues, however. We were unable to communicate with the hosts. Many emails went unanswered. The beds are terrible. The two single beds are ottomans fitted together. In the middle of the night, the ottomans split apart making for an uncomfortable sleep. The on floor futons are very thin and there are no mattresses underneath (a standard practice). The kitchen is somewhat equipped but useless. For example, there was no cutting knife or chopping board, so very difficult to cook anything. There were no drinking glasses, only mugs. It was also cold. The space is big (It’s like a repurposed garage or workshop). There is only one air conditioner, which isn’t sufficient. There’s a shoji screen direct to the road and so street lights kept the room light at night. The plus of this property is that it is a block from a public onsen, which was a wonderful treat for us during the stay. I do not recommend this hotel, especially during winter.
