Comfortable Living in Casual 100 yr old Home, 10 min walk to Stonington Village

This hundred year old home is a 15 minute stroll over a picturesque footbridge, into the heart of the Village. The house has been divided into two single bedroom units, one upstairs, the other downstairs.
I am currently renting the first floor apartment. It has its own entrance through the back door and can accommodate up to four people. The bedroom has a queen size bed and there is a sleeper sofa in the living room. (Please note: Bathroom access for bedroom is through the living room.) The bathroom has a tub with shower. Though there is no dishwasher or laundry service, there is a full kitchen, Smart TV, free WiFi, and access to a spacious yard equipped with table, chairs, and a charcoal grill for outside dining. Window fans and a cross breeze provide ventilation. For comfort on extreme heat days, a window air conditioner has recently been added. On street parking. Property owner lives on site in a cottage behind the house.
The Village hosts great restaurants and shops, Stonington Lighthouse Museum, Library, playground, La Grua Arts and Cultural Center, and CT’s only commercial fishing fleet. Extensive trails for nature walks nearby.
Be sure to visit the Stonington Village Farmer’s Market: Every Sat., 9:00 a.m.-noon at the Town Dock from May through the end of Oct. On Nov. 1st the Farmer’s Market moves indoors to the Velvet Mill, 22 Bayview Ave., 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. The Velvet Mill is a 10 minute walk and in addition to housing the winter farmer’s market, hosts a creative community of entrepreneurs & small business, Arts & Crafts, Health & Healing services, artisan bakery, micro brewery, restaurants, and a weekend crafts and vintage market.
In Mystic, you will find the Mystic Seaport, the Mystic Aquarium, a YMCA, and plenty of shops and restaurants. Golf courses are 15 minutes away. Rhode Island beaches are just 15-20 minutes away (12 miles). Foxwoods Casino and Factory Store Mall and Mohegan Sun Casino and Performance Center are also approximately 15-20 minutes away.
10 minute drive to Mystic or Westerly Amtrak train stations, as well as I-95.

Very clean and comfortable. The host was kind and cared about our experience. Quiet and off the beaten path; a hidden gem for sure, wonderful place to stay if you find yourself in the area! The house was in a great spot that it was only a short jaunt in any direction to the places we wanted to go. I highly recommend this property!It is a quaint old house. Listing photos are 100% accurate. and there everything you need.Kitchen has dishware, utensils, mugs, glassware, cookware, etc.Plenty of towels, bed linens, pillows. Full bathroom with bathtub & shower. Everything worked perfectly. The owner Dorothy is very helpful and available for questions. Once reservation was confirmed, she provided written information for arrival and check-in procedure, amenities, etc. - very helpful for planning.I would definitely stay there again.

For an older home we found it simple and functional.We loved the big fridge because we were travelling with food and wanted to keep things cool. The bed was very good but the pull out sofa bed was not at all comfortable which was unfortunate.Overall a nice place to stay for two poeple sharing the bed.

Excellent location, peaceful porch swing, tidy home, nice shower. Everything we needed for a short stay to explore the area. Host was responsive and kind! Note the sofa bed for extra guest is a very typical sofa bed in terms of comfort. Living room has less privacy, does have blackout window curtains, one open door to kitchen, door between living room and bedroom is sliding style with gaps. Parking was easy. Would stay again!

Sweet apartment in lovely neighborhood!

We had a lovely stay and felt very welcomed by Dorothy! I had an issue unlocking the door and she came over immediately to help. The apartment was spotless and cozy with views of her lovely gardens, located in a beautiful residential neighborhood. Very pleasant to walk from there to the marina where our boat was docked. We will be back next year!

Home away from Home

I returned to Stonington to visit friends, celebrate my Birthday, and check in with my medical team in Westerly. Dorothy's place was perfect in all regards ... convenient, clean, easy in, easy out, although modest, it reflects an old New England home, warm, friendly, and open. NOT extravagant, ostentatious, not over the top, but rather welcoming. AND Dorothy is the BEST neighbor you could want while traveling. Available, Friendly, Accommodating ... just a super person!

A great place to stay for The HMF Mystic Half Marathon & 10K

We stayed at this house for the weekend and found that it had the bare essentials we needed for a short stay—nothing fancy, but it got the job done. The owner let us extend our checkout and the hot water was excellent—long, hot showers were a big plus, especially after running a half marathon! What really stood out was the owner’s communication—responsive, friendly, and incredibly helpful throughout our stay.
