Clean, retro, family friendly place to stay

Clean and freshly painted room. Recently updated bathroom, also. The staff was very helpful and friendly. This is a nostalgic Route 66 Inn. They have pictures from their beginning in 1937 and through their many changes through time. It still has that simple retro feeling and good ole service of days gone by, complete with classic cars, an old phone booth, and gas pumps. It is a fun place to stay!

I give the overall stay a 7. This is 100% due to the full size bed (bunk). It is not a full size mattress. It felt like 2 twin mattresses side by side. The quality of the mattress felt like a cot. I am 108 lbs and felt the springs / slats through the mattress. This was room 204. Everything else regarding the hotel was great. Staff, cleanliness, breakfast.

They need to trim the trees that hang over some of the parking spaces. I had to park under one and it was scraping the top of my SUV. Other then that, everything was very nice. It's a very convenient location to my daughter's college. Everything was clean. Plenty of towels. I have stayed 3 times so far and plan on staying again when I visit Springfield. The staff is always very polite and helpful.

Well kept for a 75 year old motel. We stayed two nights with a car group. The picnic gazebo was a great gathering place. We had a bit of a problem with the shower, balancing the water temperature, but when we mentioned it at checkout they gave us a further discount.

Old place, has some charm. Room felt musty and old, bed was old, shower was weak and wonky. Overall it was fine, staff was very nice. Coffe was good. It has some charm, but shows age. The pool was nasty, thick green slug, I brought my swimsuit as it mentioned a hot tub, it was all chained up and out of order. I might stay again.

Not the best stay

The room had a smashed cockroach on the ceiling. Other than that the room was clean, but run down. The jacuzzi tub had loose pieces of trim. I couldn’t sleep well on the uncomfortable bed. The front desk staff were friendly, but housekeeping ruined our last morning after we were given a late checkout. We still left before normal checkout time. Overall, not really happy with the stay. I won’t stay there again.

On a Route 66 road trip and this was a historic motel on the route. Its decor and theme is in keeping with that era. The motel layout is that of a single story motor court where you park directly in front of your room. Room was comfortable and clean but it smelled “old.” We had to drive to the breakfast area as our room was at the other end of the property and it was raining. If you are into Route 66, you would like this place.

ROOM 412 The jetted tub was way old and in disrepair. The control knobs for the pump speed were there but not connected to anything and just turned round and round with zero effect. One speed which was way too hard and fast for old folks like us who had paid extra for a room with a jetted tub as we use them all the time for our aches and pains. The off on switch had been replaced with a button inside the cover where the original switch had been and you had to stick your finger into a small hole with rough plastic edges. The drain stopper was loose and if you put it in place you could fill the tub, but the only way to drain the tub was to break your fingernails digging under the edge of it to pry it out. Upon check out (who requires check out to get a receipt anymore?) they asked how things were and when I described this to them I was treated as if I expected too much. A manager rode her golf cart to go look at the room (as if I must have been making it all up?) They offered a whole $10 discount saying I had not given them the chance to make it right? Quaint old roadside motel, now surrounded by "City" and not updated for parking cars and nowhere to correctly park a pick up truck without blocking other spaces and absolutely nowhere to park with any kind of trailer period. If you have a small car and don't need a jetted tub, might be just okay for you.
