About a week out from our stay I began receiving a daily message from the host with reminders and rules. 1 message with all of the necessary info would have been more helpful than what felt like constant messages which were at times contradictory.We were a group of 12 and the property is listed for 16. We had local family that was planning to come spend time with us while we relaxed at the house. While I can understand the need to discourage parties, messaging from the host shifted from please let us know if there will be visitors to "no one outside of the reservation is permitted on the property." Had I known that information up front I likely wouldn't have reserved the space and I ended up feeling paranoid that we would be under surveillance if anyone else stepped foot on the property. I had to turn away a family friend who wanted to join us for fear that the hosts would cancel our reservation or fine us for having an extra person over.They said no less than 3x that we would not be allowed to check-in before 4pm, and made it clear that we would be turned away if we showed up prior to that time. My family arrived at 4:15 only to find a locked gate and no instructions for how to open it. Then the host was unresponsive, leaving my family in almost 90 heat for an hour before finally responding to VRBO support.Would not rent again, and wish I had known how strict their rules were in advance so I could have cancelled my reservation for a full refund.
