Jail Cell - Homeless People - Room not Available

Rooms were overbooked…seems to be a common issue here. We were forced into a room the size of a jail cell, with a very uncomfortable bed, 2 older towels, and no method in which to make coffee in the morning. An elevator was broke…and the restaurant waitress couldn’t have been any ruder. Outside of the hotel is so loud you can’t reasonably sleep, and if you went outside much you might be liable to run into trouble with all the homeless people occupying the sidewalks everywhere. The front desk person was nice -everything else was a disaster. I reached out to the hotel and got no response…we gave them 24 hours and they chose not to even reply to my email. No concern… I guess. We won’t be staying here again -ever. Hey Pali, the business you’re in is called “hospitality” -get a clue, Google it…try something new.

Some Discomfort Overall

Hello! The stay was going good until an employee opened the door on me and my girlfriend (she didn't have clothes on). I /We have issue with only a few things. We were not expecting the cleaning crew to come into checked out rooms so late, especially when we were checked in. Also, they immediately opened the door as opposed to knocking and making sure non one was in there but we were talking and had the tv on. They opened the door wide enough for her to see the employee and vice versa. This made her uncomfortable, both leaving to get food, and kind of throughout the night enough where she just wanted to leave. We were looking forward to the stay, we found a deal and this was a historic building and all, so the ambience and aesthetic was really fun. Nothing against the hotel, or employee per se, but it did leave us with that awkwardness and discomfort. The hotel itself is adorable but the elevator was the bane of my existence. “Historic” and “quirky” only justify so much, and it was wildly inconvenient, and only worked half the time (other elevator was out of service entirely). The area around the hotel is not the best area, many other neighborhoods in SD that are cleaner, safer, and quieter to choose from. I wanted to love my stay here because the decor was so vibey and service was great, but I will not stay here again and can’t recommend it to others

Beautiful vintage hotel with many original features. Great central location, the only issue we had was that it was super noisy on Friday night. Lots of cars honking even after 2am. We were on the 11th floor.

Our stay was exciting. We were close to eateries and the freeways. The bar had great hamburger and drink specials. The rooms were nice and clean. The frig had treats to buy and was fully stocked.

Great stay in Gaslamp Dustrict

Darling boutique hotel very central to Gaslamp District. Small rooms and bathrooms. Elevator is ancient but so cool. Great, friendly staff. It has a lovely rooftop common area with perfect views. But…. Be prepared for city noises! Old hotels have little sound insulation! One night the fire alarm went off at 3:30. Great fire drill skills by all in attendance! Gotta thank our public school system for that!! Staff comped our parking for that pre dawn interruption. Really fun place. Would stay again.

an interesting design, but the room wasn’t clean enough, it was noisy, and the view was just a wall with a window only four feet away from ours. Using the water faucet was tricky—I couldn’t even turn it off. So, despite the beautiful interior and nice patio, the basic needs of a traveler weren’t met.

Cute and Clean

The hotel was fun, the elevator was the original from 1913! Only one was working so sometimes you had to wait quite awhile. Our room was small but clean, cute and comfy! Only complaint was it was quite loud at night, you could a lot of noise from the street below. We were on the 7th floor.
