Pros, Inconveniences, Cons
The Pros: Excellent shower, fridge/freezer, air conditioning. Adequate eating and cooking utensils. Comfortable bath towels, linens, pillows, mattresses. Modern facility decently maintained to date. Secure gated/locked entrance. Good check-in instructions. Tourist area, Grocery store, taxis, buses, restaurants etc. within easy walking distance. Neighborhood was typically quiet and safe. Spectacular roof-top view.
The Inconveniences: no toaster or kitchen sink plug. Room safe was closed and locked on our arrival - maintenance opened it so we could set our code. No "blackout curtain" in 2nd bedroom. Common area's small soaking-pool had a greenish tinge. We never did find the laundry facilities.
The Cons: The hotel is tucked up the side of a hill with only walking access from the street below (107 steps) or above (56 steps). We typically walked the 107 steps 3 times a day and found them inconvenient & tiring. There is only a virtual office with periodic on-site presence of housekeeping or maintenance staff . Communication with the MONYXBnB (via Hotels.com) initially was quickly responded to by the "Virtual Office", but eventually we were not receiving any responses to queries.
To us, the identified cons are significant, so we would not return to the MONYXBnB. But everyone has different expectations/requirements. These "cons" might not be of concern to other readers.
