Cigarette smoke ruined my stay

The Garlands Hotel allows smoking on its premises and ruined what otherwise would have been a pleasant stay. Smoking occurred at a common outdoor balcony and the smoke drifted into stairwells and my room. This was not only unpleasant but the second-hand smoke endangered everyone's health. Staff did not take corrective action. Because of this, I will not return to the Garlands until it is completely smoke free.

Beautiful place and all the workers were absolutely the best and helped with our special week, but it is entirely way too loud at all hours of the night don’t matter what day it is!! Had to go buy a fan to drawn out the noises it was so bad!! People working on stuff in the middle of night, banging on walls, extremely loud traffic at all nights with blared music and honking!!

Unique grand old Mexican house with many interesting design features. May be difficult for those with mobility issues because of the many stairways. Excellent breakfast. Very helpful staff. Beautiful views from balconies.

Wonderfully eclectic and authentic feel. The open air courtyard made waking up lovely, though if you wanted silence I would recommend closing your patio doors and windows since you can hear activity pretty easily. Staff was very kind and helpful. If you want to use the hot tub you need to let them know beforehand so they can heat it up. Location was a close walk to everything without being right in the middle of it all.

We stayed for 4 days in mid January in the Marquese suite. Its a hike up the stairs but the room was very nice. Beds very comfy , the big windows open up to the outside so its like being in the trees. No screens but no bugs either. Staff was very accommodating. The included breakfast was fresh and made to order. The building is secure with locks on all the outside entry points. There is a coffee shop and bodega right next door for snacks and supplies. At first the streets appeared a bit rough but after a day you can get around easily and we never felt unsafe. Lots of restaurant options locally with some right over the bridge. The jazz restaurant has music till ten and after that its pretty quite. There is a city bus stop right at the main corner down the street. We used Uber which was easy to get and reasonable in price. Really no need for a rental car. It was our first trip to PV but we are looking to go again. We met many US and Canadians there on winter holiday. Great food scene and beach is just down the street.

Loved the uniqueness of this boutique hotel. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We visited the sister hotel, Riviera del Rio, and enjoyed their infinity pool and views which was a nice perk. We enjoyed our welcome drinks and snack and we enjoyed our upgraded room. Loved the convenience of the location- close to the Malécon and the old town and right by the cat island!
