Great comfortable bed and pillows!! Gorgeous views!! Professional, friendly, helpful staff!! Food was good and good selection - buffet breakfast every day was mostly the same items - could have shaked that up a bit and had a few different rotational menus for buffet breakfast. Smoking in the casino - TERRIBLE causing me to come home with upper respiratory infection (and gave me nausea for a day or more!!). Need better ventilation system to get that terrible smoke filtered out so it doesn't impact on staff and patrons. Maybe some windows high up in the room can be opened to let smoke out. Heard many guests there complaining of the smoke - I would have spent more time gambling in the casino if the conditions were more favourable i.e no smoke or thick smoke. I would definitely go back but will not be using the casino unless the conditions are more healthy for guests and staff.

Location is good and this was our fourth stay here and our seventh Island visit but overall the Vila experience has got worse over the years. This is not isolated to one hotel. In general the standards have dropped everywhere. The Grand, being a more established hotel, needs to reestablish itself and update its decor. Smells around the pool area are getting worse, drinks overrated and expensive, 5000vt for a shot of standard Hennessy Cognac? Out of basic drink ingredients, not enough pool towels. Menus need refreshing and found a screw in my breakfast.

This was an exceptional hotel well positioned. From the 2nd morning the kitchen staff remembered our names and made the stay so very personal. They allowed a midday checkout without any fuss on our last day. Well recommended.

Car parking facilities for guests needs to be addressed urgently. Its a good reason to not use this property. The property needs to accept American Express cards. This presents as an international hotel but fails to provide full international payment facilities. Other comparable properties in Port Vila accept all international credit cards. This one must also.

Shower water leaks out badly into the room due to poor design. No bottle water for guest. This is very bad as nowadays every hotel provides at least 1 bottle drinking water.
