Wot about a break on New Zealand's North Island? Our Palmerston North accommodation will let you unwind on the beach, amongst scenic parklands and riverside, plus there are plenty of cultural sites to see here too.
The place to be in Palmerston North (or "Palmy", as the locals call it) is The Square, a huge park with gardens, lakes, cafes, restaurants, art galleries, shops and historic buildings. It’s also home to the Palmerston Clock Tower and the Te Peeti Te Awe Awe War Memorial.
Theatre-goers are in luck, as there's a theatre on just about every corner in town. People travel from all over New Zealand just to watch a show in Palmerston North, so it’s worth checking out. Looking for something more relaxing? Head to Himatangi Beach or the Manawatu River for a dip. And don't forget to take some photos of the phenomenal views from the Manawatu Gorge.
Your visit to Palmerston North wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the New Zealand Rugby Museum! This museum is home to the country's largest collection of rugby union jerseys and memorabilia.
If you're looking for a place to give your credit cards a workout, look no further than The Plaza. After all that shopping, you'll have worked up an appetite. The good news is that there are heaps of restaurants and cafes both inside the shopping centre and within walking distance of it. Then every Sunday morning there's the Farmers' Market along Tremaine Avenue, where you can pick up fresh locally grown produce and gourmet goodies.
Another must-visit in Palmy is the Tui Brewery, which has been running since 1889 and is home to the ever-popular beer museum. Even if you're not a fan of the golden liquid yourself, you're bound to find some great souvenirs for your beer drinking loved ones in the Tui Shop.
To get here, book a seat on one of these cheap flights to Palmerston North. Once you’re in town, you can use the public bus system but it doesn't cover the entire region and there aren't any buses that go to the airport. Getting around during the day is easiest done by car or bicycle hire.
So wot are you waiting for? Book a room in one of our Palmerston North hotels and enjoy your time in beautiful NZ!
