I got to the hotel @ 11am prior to check in @ 4, they informed me they would text me when my room was available. After waiting till 7pm with no text, I had to go to find out if my room was ready. Very frustrating when check in is at 4pm. And the Elevator system is atrocious.

This was the second worst Marriott I’ve stayed at. An hour and a half wait to check in met by the most out of date room with the finest beds you’ve seen. For what they charge you deserve way more than the rooms they give. Bathroom was super outdated and gross. No hot water or water pressure all weekend. Thermostat did nothing as we had it on 65 degrees and it felt like 100. The restaurant staff are very rude and not attentive. They have a worst sanitation rating then the food carts outside of the hotel. Food sat and got cold while nobody asked us what we were waiting for or whose order it was. Don’t stay here, this is not the great Americana that Jazz legends, the great Ali, or the Beatles stayed at.

The staff were really nice a bit sarcastic but doable. As for the cleanliness umm no. The hotel really needs new lobby furniture as well better handymen to fix things like loose tile near the elevator. The rooms are not equally sufficient. My family had a room more compact for more money whereas I has a more spacious room for less than what they paid. It felt scammy in that way. I will definitely not recommend this hotel.

Overall this was a great place to stay. 2 negatives. Mold in the bathroom and the preprogrammed elevators. They have tons of elevators but you can only take certain ones to certain rooms and it creates such a bottleneck and 33 flights of stairs is not feasible.

All the things youve read are true! 1. Rooms are fairly run down, furniture beat up, carpet stained, remains of former coffee bar dusty and left behind. 2. We did experience elevator issues, had to walk down 22 stories after waiting 20+ minutes. 3. Charged for checking bags while waiting on our room 4. $35 daily resort fee which can be used on site but not in any efficient way 5. "Starbucks" on site is a complete fabrication 6. Location is decent, close to Times Square, close to subway but definitely better options

Room wasn't ready 6.5hours after check in after we'd travelled from the uk. Then got a downgrade and a rude staff member asking what do we expect them to do. Lifts had massive queues so just going from the lobby to the room took nearly half hour. Really disappointed.

Room was in poor condition and needed a complete renovation. Furniture was old, outdated l, and in poor condition. Staff tried to be helpful but nothing changed. Check-in not until 4pm and they make you wait even if room is ready. Worst of all hotel charges a $38 visitor fee. Also, hotel charged $6/day for each piece of checked luggage while you’re waiting for your room. All this while hotel lobby is under construction.

Lady checking us in was wonderful - room was ready which was great for a 2pm arrival. However that’s where the good reviews end. The line to check in about 5 min after we arrived was literally to the door of the entrance to the hotel - remained that way until past 130am (when we got home after watching Moulin Rouge (which was fabulous). The wait and chaos around the elevators was another story. Took 30 minutes and multiple attempts to ride an elevator before we got to our room. Similar situation when we settled in and left for the night to head out and enjoy NY. Everyone we talked too shared the same experience - chaotic and long wait times. Then when we checked out and asked the hotel to hold our bags until 2pm we were informed that they don’t do that. There’s a separate company that will nag check your luggage for $6 a bag - we had 3 carryons and 3 backpacks- so that cost us $36 to hold our luggage for 3 hours. Have to say it’s our first and last time staying here - incredibly disappointed in MARRIOTT- seriously need to do better with Bonvoy Members.
