My room was clean but it lacked some things I consider basic. no lotion or microwave and room was very cold even with temp set to 80, it just did not get warm. staff super nice/friendly and bar made great drinks. too cold for rooftop bar. never ate any food at this hotel just got coffee which was nice and hot. location is great, easy to get where we needed to go. fridge is super small and i thought i was booking a double bed room after we arrived I was told no rooms have 2 queen beds-got close to my daughter this trip!

Our first room had a pest issue that was dealt with quickly but was dark in the room, the lights was not particular bright at all. Our 2nd room there was several minor faults in the toom that i expect to nit be there for the type of hotel. A broken dimmer switch, burnt toile seat lid, broken slats on the blinds. And the lights were still dingy dark and poorly lit up. Staff were friendly and hotel clean and tidy..

They slapped a 240$ “service fee” for 6 nights (40$ a day) without telling me that before hand. Great customer service otherwise, the guys in the lobby are really cool and helpful people. some issues with the hotel was it was below 30° outside and our window was broken so the room was freezing and never came to fix it. If youre not an early riser, you get a free alarm from the cleaning service beginning to clean around 8am, letting doors slam behind them and bumping walls. Its a decent location. Average of a 20min subway ride anywhere uptown but youre in soho and close to grenwhich so theres alot of great stuff there. The fitness center on site was nice to have. The brokenshaker is a great rooftop bar with reasonable prices, and the breakfast spot downstairs was really good.

The hotel was absolutely terrible. I checked in on my birthday and someone sent me cupcakes, the refrigerator in the room did not work and the cupcakes were spoiled. The heat in my room did not work the whole night - the thermostat showed the room was 40 degrees. The hotel staff brought a space heater but it got so bad I had to leave the hotel in. the middle of the night. My room was also right outside the elevator and was so loud the entire time. HORRIBLE stay. I checked out early and they told me they would refund me.

Staff was friendly, but for the love of God, do not let them put you on the 17th floor. Out room shook from the bar above us until 12, or 1 depending on the day. It was so loud, especially for the person on the bunk bed, mere feet away from a dance club. Main light was flickering so it was unusable, room was cold even after adjusting temperature.

The staff at Freehand was fun and accommodating. It was nice to have someone always checking in on our way in and out to make sure we had everything we needed. Our thermostat got stuck in standby mode one night and we just requested an extra blanket rather than worrying about having them come in and fix it. In the morning, it was reset and working again. The public spaces were nice, the gym was pretty nice. I loved the vibe in the rooftop bar. The queen room itself was small but cozy. Not ideal if you have two large suitcases (which we had), as there's little floor space and nowhere to put much of anything away. The bathroom was really nice, shower pressure was good, and the way the furniture was set up was thoughtful, given how tiny the room is. The lights in the bathroom flickered constantly, but it's an old building, what can you expect? I think the only thing that lacked in decor were the hallways to the rooms. A bit dim and felt a bit like an old apartment building rather than a nice boutique hotel. No real complaints that would keep me from coming back. It was convenient and central. it had a nice breakfast/lunch restaurant attached. Coffee was great in the morning. Cocktails at the rooftop bar were tasty. I would definitely tell friends and family to stay here!

The air conditioning was broken and I was given a space heater which short circuited power to the room in the middle of freezing weather. No discount was offered despite the room amenities not being as advertised or paid for.

Comfortable room with portable room heater to make up for drafty windows. Awesome hot shower! Great service at front desk with check-in and storing luggage on day of departure. Convenient to Gramercy, Flatiron, Madison Square Park, Stuy town, LES áreas. Easy walk across town to Chelsea & Hudson Yards.

1) The soaps inside the bathroom were all branded with negativity. Big bold negative words staring me in the face as I try to cleanse myself. I understand the brand is 'Free Of' or whatnot, hence the subsequent negative wording...but at a glance, the negative push threw me off and feels like it wasn't thought all the way through. 2) No dressers for clothing was a bummer. Everything had to stay in my suitcase, which isnt ideal. 3) toilet paper was backwards.
