I liked the cliffs you could jump off of at the resort. However, we would not go back mainly because there were so many people smoking up at the resort (both Samsara and Legends) that it was hard to find a spot where we were not smelling it. This was especially the case at the Legends sister hotel beach spot where people were constantly smoking up and you could not get away from it as the chairs were jam packed together. Legends beach spot also had only a few umbrellas for shade. People staying at Legends got up early to secure a chair with an umbrella so by the time the shuttle from the Samsara Cliff Resort got there, there was no possibility of a chair with any shade. The shuttle only went once in the day leaving Samsara Cliff Resort at 10am and returned from Legends at 4pm. You could get your own cab ride back. We did a glass bottom snorkeling trip with Captain Carl's to the reef near Booby Cay. They left from beside Legend's at 10:30am returning around 1pm. It was well worth it. The fish we saw while snorkeling were fantastic. We did the all inclusive which we didn't know had specific times you could eat- Breakfast 8-10am, Lunch 12-2pm, and dinner was late at 7-10(?)pm. All-inclusive was buffet only. The main course food was generally pretty good but there was only one thing for dessert, mostly vanilla cake, sometimes coconut cake, and only once chocolate cake...so a dessert disaster in my opinion because I like desserts :)

We’ve been here 4 or 5 times now (we’ve been coming to Jamaica for almost 20 years). We like to split our trips up by spending time in both the cliffs, and on the beach. This is always our first choice on the cliffs. Beautiful view, quiet, and it’s a convenient stroll to some local hangouts that we like to go to (PeWee’s, No Limit Bar, X-Tabi, etc.). Decent food available at Samsara, and good food across the road, plus your jerk chicken guys nearby on the road. We like to relax, jump off the cliff, snorkel… drink too much rum… All the good stuff!

This is a beautiful property with a very specific, old school vibe. Think 1970s, free-flowing community vibe. Key staff members learn your name and you get to know them. So the whole engagement becomes very personal. The chef is fantastic and creates an ever changing lunch and dinner with multiple options including fish and beef pork/chicken. The breakfast is yummy and consistent - eggs cooked to order, Jamaican greens, French toast, bacon or sausage - all freshly made. Plus a fruit plate, toast and muffins. And cereal options. You can eat in the restaurant or take your food outside. At the end of the day, it's all about the vibe. This is a super cool place to hang and just let yourself be. Guest come from US, Europe and Canada. And people are happy to connect, or leave you alone. It can be whatever you want it to be, but it will not be a big name resort. Take it or leave it, you are not a "guest" when you check into the Samsara. You're really a guest. With hosts who see you and want to make your experience the best it can be.

We had the all inclusive option. What we liked: - Laid back, relaxing vibe. - Cliffs were unique and beautiful. - Not crowded, poolside and cliffside seating was readily available. There was no need to "stake out" your spot first thing in the morning. - Lots of drink variety available in the all-inclusive option. - Food was generally good quality and represented the local culture. What could have been better: - Variety of food was lacking. - Also, the limited hours for getting food definitely made this not feel all-inclusive. Know that a regular resort with an all-inclusive option is not the same as an all-inclusive resort. - Room was clean but bare-bones (and we had a "new" unit.) Only one outlet in the room, plus one in the bath. If you are planning on having electronics to charge, you might want to pack a power strip. - No amenities provided - you need pack your own toiletries, beach towels, Kleenex. - Bathroom was lit by one small overhead bulb. - Housekeeping was spotty - you never knew when the room was being made up, and it would often be done in waves - sheets removed in the morning, bed made in the afternoon, towels later. Just one towel each, and no washcloths (except for 1 day they mysteriously showed up.) A couple days I had to request towels at the desk just so we could get ready for dinner. - Sister property (Legends) was absolutely NOT worth the day trip - small, crowded beach, most of the lounge chars were broken, all umbrellas were taken.

I needed a restful break from a hectic schedule and found the perfect spot. I put away my phone and sat out on the cliff and gazed out over the sea, watched the sunset and even saw dolphins swimming in front of the hotel. Staff were very friendly and my room was kept clean and had a beautiful sea view. I will be back.

The property is located on the cliffs which are great for snorkeling and the pools were nice. We are at the resort a few times and found the food was good. Room we stayed in was relatively new but the bathroom lighting was poor, anyone overweight would have a difficult time with the toilet situation. Towels were sometimes a problem. Barking dogs was a major issue. Enjoyed the people and likely would stay there again.

While this is not a 5 star resort, it is just what we want. Fun, friendly staff. Awesome location. Bonus that you can also use Legends on the beach. We like the all inclusive option. It is good Jamaican food served up quickly. Eating out in Negril can be slow and expensive. For the price of $140 per day for 2 people, thst is definitely a deal for drinks and 3 meals. We usually hit 2 there and grab something from the locals too. This is our 15 visit to Samsara. We love seeing many others return every year. Tried some other places over the years and we keep returning here.

The property itself was ok. The location was great with beautiful views. Jennifer at the front desk was a lovely lady and very helpful and friendly. Having access to Legends on the beach was a nice idea, but the shuttle service was not well organized as people are not courteous so those who came last would just butt in leaving those who were early to wait for next shuttle. A number system might do well for this. House keeping was pretty much non existing. Our floor wasn’t swept properly the entire 4 days we were there as flower petals left on bed that had fallen to floor first day were still there our last day. Each day between our two rooms, we’d have to go retrieve towels as the ones we hung were taken but not replaced. Would I stay here again or recommend? Only if it had an amazing deal, but there are so many others, so likely not. Suggestion also would be to have some evening entertainment and possibly keep bar open past 10:00. There was a Jamaican band one night and it was great to listen to!

Beautiful location

Sam Sara is a beautiful location. Very reasonable prices. The rooms are nice especially the newer part of resort. It's not the cleanest of rooms.overal I love staying there have been going there for years and will continue to.
