In 1962, the Department of Crown Lands and Survey took responsibility for Mount Hotham and spent the next 21 years helping to build things like chairlifts and the region’s first resort. Hotham and the Victorian Alps are part of the Great Dividing Range, the chain of mountains that runs 3,000km from Queensland to Victoria. Just a bus ride from Mount Hotham is Dinner Plain, a village with over 15km of walking trails, snowgum trees and pubs with fireplaces.
