I booked a stay in one of the ‘premier studio’ rooms with were located on the ‘M’ floor which are accessible by a small stairwell directly to the left of the hotel entrance. On entering the room it does give an initial wow factor for its strange unique layout (brick ceiling, metal work) but having spent 2 nights in the room the initial wow factor becomes a lot more obvious that it’s lacking in functionality and not greatly cared for. Good things: bed was comfy and kitchen function is great. Not so good things: the room is built set back from the outdoor brick facade and so whilst there is a window, natural light is a slight problem. The lights for the room itself aren’t much better and it still felt quite dark with all of them on. We found ourselves going outside and struggling to open our eyes because it was so bright in comparison to the room. There is a gap in the wall you can open to let fresh air through, this is good but as the room is at just above street level near the station it’s quite loud. The tv had seen better days and every few frames struggled to hold the picture. Furniture is largely worn, kitchen see better days, bathroom had masking tape in areas, a towel hook which had fell off the wall and a waste water system area which was open and very loud with gushing water sounds (door wouldn’t close) wardrobe was dark and couldn’t see in it as it block out the light when it opened. Overall, lovely building, but if all the rooms are like that I wouldn’t stay again.
