Room was amazing, bathroom looked a little less modern but to be fair it was a good shower. The both resteraunt was very relaxing and decor beautiful. Food was outstanding and staff extremely friendly Breakfast in the morning was good portions and again lovely food. Mrs M in front desk was brilliant and even got to meet Justin!! Highly highly recommend

A bit disappointing - stay in the Fort if you can!

Reasonable accommodations but at an exorbitant price. Paid ~$100 more per night to stay here than other far nicer places on a 10 day tour. Bath didn't drain properly, fridge and heat pump unit were both loud. Minimal view from the room itself to the ocean (small window, people often walking by in front, small deck etc). Also was not aware at the time of booking I'd be placed on a ground floor unit (2 story building, poor sound insulation). All of this was further compounded by somewhat poor service in the restaurant, which although voted as 'quite nice' in many other reviews, is perhaps better described as 'quirky nice'. It is a steel arch garage-style building but nicely decorated and the food was decent. The more unfortunate aspect of the entire stay was the drunken business owner who forced me to point out waitresses involved in less than ideal service, and launched a repetitive diatribe about how I myself failed in upholding a 'social contract' that should have seen me somehow better express our unhappiness in a way that might lead to resolution. All this, as in wishing to leave, my wife and I had approached the hostess desk to request our bill. I briefly tried to discuss the issue amicably with the owner, but it became clear quickly that there would be no use in further discussion given his inebriated state (I was server when young, now a physician). We left feeling terrible for both of our waitresses (having two was likely the source of our being honestly overlooked).

We had a beautiful ocean view room. Friendly courteous staff. Off the charts hospitable . The room itself surpassed all our expectations. Big , comfortable, had kitchenette , amazing sunrise from our room. The restaurant had excellent food choices and the quality was impressive. The drink selections were impressive and to top it off they had live music . We ate breakfast and dinner at the property . I can’t say enough about the place. Everything from check in to check out was super. We will return .

This is a beautiful property, close to the Fort and the lighthouse. We had an oceanfront room that was perfect except they kept the outside lights on all night. So much for enjoying the darkness of the ocean night.

Room 9 was wonderful! Clean and quiet and beautifully decorated. Spectacular views of the water. Excellent restaurant on site. Helpful, friendly staff people. Very close to Fortress Louisbourg.

Fantastic well appointed suites right on the water and right next to Louisbourg fortress. Very bright with lots of windows and amazing views. Owners and staff are helpful and feiendly and restaurants on site and nearby. Lots of places to sit outside and enjoy the view and sunshine. Overall room was clean but dusty blinds and window sills stood out to me in the sunlight.

An absolute gem of a hotel

The North Star Beach Suites is an absolutely fantastic place to stay! The rooms are perfect, very nicely furnished and with amazing views of the beach. Dinner in their on-site restaurant, The Bothy, was delicious, a truly memorable experience with Colin, one of the hosts, even joining the band for a beautiful song. Our only regret was we only stayed for one night!
