Complaint Regarding Inaccessible Accommodation at Mikado Hotel – Valley Village, California
I am writing to formally express my deep dissatisfaction with my recent stay at the Mikado Hotel in Valley Village. As a person with a disability who uses a wheelchair for mobility, I specifically requested an accessible room in advance—both via email and through a phone call made five hours before my arrival. I was assured at both points that my needs would be accommodated.
However, upon arrival after a long five-hour drive, I was met with complete disregard at the front desk. The receptionist, Shama, informed me bluntly that there were no accessible rooms available and that my only options were to either cancel my reservation or stay in a standard room.
This was completely unacceptable. The room provided was not suited for a wheelchair user. My wife and I faced significant difficulties accessing the bathroom, and it was extremely risky and unsafe for me to transfer to the toilet and shower without proper accessibility features.
What made the situation worse was the indifference shown by the staff. When I requested to speak to a manager, I was told by Shama that there was no manager on site—an unbelievable claim for any hotel.
This experience completely ruined our trip. I had planned everything in advance and was relying on the hotel's promise to accommodate my disability needs.Instead, I was met with unprofessionalism, lack of empathy, and poor management.I strongly urge not to useit
