Lake Macquarie has a decent range of hotels available, but most are outside the centre of town. In any case, you will find 11 options within 10 kilometres.
The suburb of Swansea is extremely convenient, as it's found only 4 kilometres from the city's heart. However, if you're eager to set up base here, you better be snappy! The only available hotel is Black Swan Waterfront Motel - Adults Only.
For some alternatives, checkout the Pullman Magenta Shores Resort and the Chifley Executive Suites. They are 25 kilometres and 25 kilometres respectively from the center. Wotif also suggests the Quest Newcastle and the Crowne Plaza Newcastle. The first is 25 kilometres away from the center, while the second is 25 kilometres away.
If you'd like to experience some close by localities, check out Eleebana and The Entrance. Travel 10 kilometres to the northeast from Lake Macquarie and you'll locate Eleebana. That said, The Entrance is 30 kilometres to the south. Hotels in Eleebana include the Tantarra Bed and Breakfast and The Esplanade Motel - formerly Eco-Inn Warners Bay. The Kims Beachside Retreat and Lavender House B&B are some of the choices in The Entrance.
If you like sports and want to see local games, you could make a trip to Newcastle International Sports Centre, which is situated to the northeast of Lake Macquarie. The Gateway Inn and the Honeysuckle Executive Apartments are near the action.
For those flying, Williamtown Airport is the most convenient airport for Lake Macquarie. A nearby hotel is the Mercure Newcastle Airport.
