Good location in Kyoto, but a lot of the rules are not clear on booking sites like Hotels.com or Expedia. There is no staff there most of the day, hotel is very basic even though pictures show it in a much modern light, you cannot check out a day early even in emergency situations. There is no cleaning service. When we arrived we were supposed to stay 4 nights and they asked us to consent to one cleaning, in the third day. That cleaning never actually happen, and there wasnโ€™t someone to ask why. Clean hotel, very basic, expensive for what it offers, good location. Would not stay there again, much nicer options for similar price.

Good location & good for families

Very comfortable in adjoining twin rooms for two adults and two teens. Sadly the mattress protector on my bed was stained, I could see it through the sheet :( Good facilities & great location though. It was good to be able to walk to so many attractions, the national museum is five minutes walk & kiyomizu-dera is less than 20 minutes walk away. Also, the free communal washer/dryers were much appreciated by my family.

Not super family-oriented

This is a tiny hotel in a quiet neighborhood a bit far from the inner city. The rooms are comfortable but not really family-friendly as they accommodate max 2 persons (we booked 2 rooms for the four of us). Not so many dining options around. No extra service is offered by the hotel.

The room was beautiful and clean and had everything I needed. Nice and quite and close to many things you might want to see on the east side on Kyoto. The bed was nice and comfortable and I would recommend staying there, I will again.

Lovely place to stay, great neighborhood. The room was spacious, very clean and the beds are really comfortable. The free laundry facilities was also very much appreciated. I also like the fact that you can open the window at night to allow fresh air when youโ€™re sleeping, instead of using the AC. We highly recommend this place!

The property was excellent. The problem was they demand you inform them of your check in time. In the email they send you it says check in 3pm till 9pm!!!! What hotel demands you check in before 9pm? When you scroll right to the bottom of the email in the small print they state that you can in fact check in after 9pm. So why even put that in an email in the first place! We had to curtail our plans to check in but only when reading the small print did we see it. Too late! Weโ€™d changed our plans and had already begun to race to the hotel. Just stupid. What if you were arriving late from the airport!

Our stay at Stay Sakura Ougi was wonderful. Our room was very comfortable and had nice amenities. It was convenient for accessing transportation and fun restaurants as well as some sights, including Kiyomizu-dera and Gion. We would stay here again if we ever our lucky enough to return to Kyoto.

Small and quiet hotel! If you get a good deal donโ€™t hesitate to choose. Walkable distance to train station; 7eleven and few temple and beautiful streets (exam Kiyomizu-dera). Got a suit with 2 rooms for 4 people just good size bed / very comfortable and nice shower. Washing/driver machine have issue an all the time give you error. For us in general a good stay nothing luxurious. Many thanks

Stay SAKURA Kyoto Ougi was a lovely hotel with ample and clean room space. Located about a 15 minute walk from Gion main shopping area and bus stations that can take you around the neighboring temples and shrines. The staff was friendly, rooms had a common Japanese style shower/ tub area and a genkan area at your room entry to remove your shoes. I also liked that they had a laundry facility. Such a great find!

Very clean and family friendly since two rooms were joined together by a door. Air conditioning was quite about a kilometre walk to the main attractions, including restaurants.

Very comfortable room in a quite part of Kyoto that is still near the major sites of the Higashiyama area. The staff was always friendly had helpful. Will stay here again in the future.
