Established in 1979 the Eumundi Markets are a fantastic attraction as over 500 stalls line the streets, which are shrouded with listed fig trees, to create an awesome spectacle. The markets are known for artisanal goods and various handicrafts. Artwork, sculptures, homemade toys, furniture, food of all varieties, fashion and more can all be found for sale. From humble beginnings it is now estimated that over 1.6 million people visit the markets annually and it is often worth considering booking a Eumundi hotel in advance if your trip coincides with a market day or national holidays.
The town is a haven for artistic personalities and as a result it is also home to six art galleries covering contemporary art and aboriginal art. These spaces are well worth visiting when the markets aren't in full swing. The chocolate factory, Cocoa Chocolat, is another popular attraction and words don't really need to explain why. Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on your view, oompah loompahs don't do the leg work around this factory but the chocolate is delicious nonetheless. For a deeper understanding of the history of the town and its culture it's worth dropping by the Discover Eumundi and Heritage Centre.
You can use our Eumundi accommodation as a base to explore the very best this town has to offer and hopefully you will come back with plenty of market purchases to enjoy.Image from Adam Campbell
