Loved Cheval old Town Chambers

The staff was so kind and helpful. Everyone. From the front desk, to bartenders, to servers. It was so comfortable of a stay. We stayed with two children and very much felt comfortable. The location was perfect! We will definitely come back.

The room was good size and in the middle of Edinburgh Old Town near sights, buses and many restaurants. The entry was off of the main street down a close and was secure. The room had large windows and was bright during the day, however, only three small lamps made it dark at night. Brighter, taller bedside lamps would make reading in bed possible and the room more functional during the evening.

I booked two rooms, one for my son and me and one for my parents who are in their 70s, for three nights each. Due to the fire near Heathrow, all of our flights were cancelled; my son and I would only be able to stay one night at Cheval, and my parents none. Cheval refused to reimburse us any money for any of the six nights despite the fact that we did not cancel but were literally unable to get to Scotland. Once there, my son and I found that our room was nice, but the hall our room was on was loud, there was an unpleasant new paint smell outside of our door, and the "hot" water was not hot. The hotel itself is a combination of two buildings and getting to the rear building requires two elevators and various stairs. It's not simple so I would not encourage older folks to stay here. From a business perspective, I guess I understand the unwillingness to do anything for us. But from a human perspective, I think the Cheval behavior was really ugly. Won't consider staying there again.

Family of six from Canada, first time in Scotland. Amazing stay in the heart of Edinburgh! The hotel/apartment was first class in every way. It was charming, felt historical and yet completely modern amenities. So much space for our family of six adults. The staff was so helpful. They do absolutely everything right. Located right on the Royal Mile, The Cheval Old Town Chambers was so close to everything. Walked all over the city to eat, shop and visit the must-see Edinburgh sites. We will definitely stay here again! Thank you for a perfect stay!

Centrally Located Home Away from Home

We had a 2 bedroom apartment in the building across the courtyard from reception. Everything about our stay was excellent! The rooms were a little small, but having the living room made all the difference. The bathrooms were perfect. I never heard any noise from neighbors. The washer/dryer was a surprise; we could have packed less! We had a great view. We ate out one morning and at the hotel restaurant another. Price was about the same, so unless you want the adventure, there's no need to go out. Location on the Royal Mile is optimal. We would absolutely stay here again.

This hotel/apartment was in the heart of everything. There were multiple coffee shops, restaurants, and pubs all a short walk away. When I come back to Edinburgh I would stay here again.
