It was rustic and modern unlike anything I have ever stayed in. Great Reno of an old farm, friendliness exceptional.

Great country location with a wonderful host. Our room was clean and over looked a breathtaking rural setting with river and surrounding fields. Very relaxing stay.

Bothwell is well situated for visits to other centres in the Tasmanian Midlands, such as Ross or Oatlands, and about one hour from Hobart. Ratho Farm offers the oldest golf course in the Southern Hemisphere and an attractive dining room in which to enjoy breakfast as well as a spacious conservatory in which to enjoy dinner with friends or fellow guests. Each of the meals is of a high quality. Alternatively, guests may choose to have a "pub meal" at the Bothwell hotel where some wine is available at bottle shop prices. The accommodation, often in heritage buildings, includes a spacious bedroom and large bathroom which includes underfloor heating - blissful on a cooler morning. Bothwell is a short walk away and includes many interesting sandstone buildings whilst the hotel was originally constructed in 1829. That is, Ratho Farm is located in uninteresting environment and provides promise of a relaxing sleep in a quiet picturesque environment whilst lying on a very good quality bed. Often acting as mein host is Mike a young, engaging and very helpful individual.

Golf/Accomodation

Pros: The peacefulness and upmarket homeliness .
Cons: My bed, it creaked.
Location: The Award winning Nant Whiskey was a wonderful diversion. The Bothwell museum of golf. A wonderful bakery at Hamilton on the way to Russel Falls.
Three great days of great golf, excellent food and terrific fellow guests. The uniqueness of this property is that it is enjoyed by people other than golfers. The ambience of this working farm is a joy. Our only criticism was not enough room at the breakfast table when there were more than eight, so a long wait ensued. I am sure this would not happen too often, but not good when it does. We want to come back sooner than later and that was the consensus of all the guests we met. In fact four guests from Hong Kong said it was the clean fresh air they came back for.

Ratho Farm - what a treasure!

Sadly our stay at Ratho Farm was only for 1 night. Would have loved to stay longer. We certainly will next time! A fantastic base to explore the Midlands or the perfect place to relax and enjoy the spoiling! Fantastic facilities and the most gorgeous historic buildings and history to be found at Ratho Farm.
