The Barossa Valley is made up of a number of small towns spread throughout the valley. Each town has its own personality, thanks to the different groups of German and British settlers making their mark in the region. Nuriootpa is commercial centre of the area and the meeting place of the region’s styles and flavours. You’ll find a Farmers Market here every Saturday and have the chance to sample delicious local produce including baked goodies, cured meats, dried fruits and dill cucumbers – they’re the real dill.

Down the road from Nuriootpa is Barossa’s second biggest town, Tanunda, and the world's oldest active vineyard. The Turkey Flat Shiraz vines are considered old school as they were planted in 1847! It’s history you can taste too, they do tastings at the a cellar door. If you see yourself as a wine buff, lots of the surrounding wineries offer blending sessions where you can make your own bottle.
