Everything about this hotel feels outdated and in urgent need of refurbishment—from the bathroom and carpets to the bed and furniture. The side of the bed I slept on had collapsed, making it very uncomfortable, and I woke up with back pain. After a 19-hour journey, a comfortable bed is the least you’d expect. The room décor was dark and uninviting, with old-fashioned furniture that added to the overall tired feel. I didn’t try the breakfast as I had to leave early to catch the cruise train, but based on the rest of the experience, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

We stayed 4 nights. Even though we asked, they never took out the trash or replaced the towels. The "exercise room" did not have weights as was pictured on the website. You have to park on the street and pay the meter from 9AM to 6PM.

Arrived to find the lobby full of police dealing with an off-duty hotel employee so drunk they were incoherent. At check-in we were told their key card machine was down and another hotel employee had to accompany us to our room to open the door. It was late at night so we didn’t leave the room until morning but we never did receive a key so I’m not sure how that was ever going to work. The hotel itself was mostly clean but on the shabby side. Shower noise from the bathroom above us was pretty unbearable. We immediately canceled the remainder of our stay and found a new place.

Place had good value for the money. Check in... a little delayed had a lobby full of people waiting for the go time of 330 pm. Didny get that part. If a room is open let people check in already. The kept the luggage and brought it to us when we needed it but it would be a little simpler to get people in their room. Keeping people in the lobby waiting makes it appear of staff incompetence.

The WestMark in downtown Anchorage is much better than the other reviews would imply. This hotel was no frills, but a perfectly good hotel for a fair price. Would absolutely stay here again.
