Lovely views, a bit noisy outside one night but they were happy sounds. The south west facing windows made for a hot evening room. The staff provided a fan when requested, which helped so much. It cooled off at night. We enjoyed the restaurant for several meals.

Area is pleasant near marina. Our hot water heater trickled all night. Quite annoying. Thought that was normal but our travel mates didn’t have that problem. Wanted to make sure there were no pets in rooms and was told not. However a cat lives in this hotel so I was not comfortable being in the common areas like the restaurant. My allergies to cats is severe. Pleasant stay otherwise. About 20 min walk to train station.

Gem of a hotel!

We stayed 1 night prior to boarding a river cruise. I wish we had booked for the week after the cruise as well! It seems "out of the way" on first impression (we walked from Central Station with luggage) but after getting oriented we realized it was in a perfect place for walking into the centre of the old town. The route felt safe, and was free of road traffic and lead directly to the Oosterdoc. The room had a very comfortable and clean queen bed and very new and easy to use shower with great water pressure. Lots of space for clothing. Good blinds kept the light out for sleeping post a transatlantic flight. There was a lovely clean sitting area where you could make tea or coffee, sit in a comfy couch and read on every floor. The hotel's decor was vibrant, artsy and nautical, and the cafe/bar had a lovely vibrant and colourful atmosphere. The hotel is situated in a park right beside the Maritime Museum which adds to its charm. They accommodated our need for luggage storage for a few hours after our stay which is always a bonus when travelling. Would stay there again at any time!

We arrived from a long flight and were offered luggage storage, then, when 1 room became available, were able to check in early and wait for the 2nd room. Very friendly staff, great location to walk along canals and into central. Great view from our rooms, lots to watch. Had dinner and breafast, both meals enjoyed. Would highly recommend staying here.

Quiet, and walkable from many attractions like the Zoo, and surrounding museums. Fairly bare in terms of amenities, breakfast is paid, no air conditioning, no laundry option. Nice for what you pay for

Our group really enjoyed this hotel. It is very unique and quite comfortable. While the lift is slow (they joke about it at check in) we were grateful to have it to get our luggage upstairs. Good location that was an easy Uber ride anywhere.

I absolutely loved this place! It has such a unique and charming atmosphere that made my stay truly special. The staff were the best—so kind, helpful, and welcoming throughout the entire day. The location is incredibly convenient, just a short walk to both buses and trains, making it easy to get around. I also loved the charming view of the canal, which added to the overall experience. The only minor downside is that the rooms are a bit older, but that didn’t take away from how lovely the stay was. Would definitely return!

We loved the location of this place. Walking distance to everything and easy to get to public transit when not. There is great park/lawn area to sit out and enjoy. The restaurant and bar got a bit loud on the Friday/Saturday night but we did not hear any of it from our room. The room was comfortable but the temperature was a bit hard to control. All in all it was a great experience!

I really enjoyed my stay at the Pension Homeland. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food at the restaurant is great. I would especially recommend the breakfast there. Room is very clean and bed is comfortable. There’s also a great outdoor space with a beautiful view of the water. The only downside to staying here is that it is a bit of a walk to the city center and central station.

Very cool building in a fantastic location. Reasonable walk to the main tourist areas and short walk to the train station. Comfortable clean rooms. Staff is very friendly and helpful, breakfast was delicious. Very limited onsite parking, was able to find offsite paid parking reasonably close.

I stayed at Pension Homeland for two nights with three friends. We had a room that slept four of us. When you walk down to the building it does not look impressive initially but once inside it is perfect. A great vibe around the bar and restaurant. Clean and very comfortable rooms and a 20 minute walk to town. Staff were really friendly and accommodating. Would definitely recommend for a chilled, comfortable fun weekend.

I didn't know beforehand that it had some historic significance as the old headquarters of the Dutch Navy, that gave it a little extra chic for me. A very nice building, friendly staff, good service.

Family trip to Amsterdam

The Pension Homeland was a wonderful place to stay for our family of four while we were in Amsterdam. Located away from the hustle and bustle yet close enough to walk anywhere we needed. We enjoyed happy hour at the restaurant on sight with some light snacks. Perks: the bedding was wonderful! Walkable distance to restaurants, museums, and local attractions. Overall, we would highly recommend!
