Amsterdam Holiday Packages

The word Amsterdam paints all sorts of pictures in the mind: Canals zig-zagging through the city. People riding around on bicycles dating back to the 1940s. Locals and tourists throwing back Heinekens in the neighbourhood pubs. College kids running in and out of every coffee shop they can find before wandering the alleyways of the red light district. The nightclubs that blast music late into the night. If your brushstroke of imagination creates any of this in your mind, book one of Wotif’s great Amsterdam holiday packages and start learning Dutch immediately.

Things to Do in “Mokum”

Wow! Just look at all the great activities to do and things to look at. Don’t just sit in the coffeehouses in a catatonic state all day. Check out some of our suggestions below:

  • Heineken Experience – This should be the number one thing on your list of things to do. Whether you’re the biggest beer fan in the world or enjoy one every now and then, this is cool. Sign up for a VIP tour through the historic brewery and you’ll be treated to an inside look at how the legendary beer is brewed.
  • Van Gogh Museum – You’ve heard of Vincent van Gogh, right? He was a famous painter who may or may not have sliced his ear off. He must’ve been pretty darn good, because he’s got an entire museum dedicated to his life and work. Some of his most famous paintings are housed here, like Self-Portrait with Pipe, Sunflowers and The Yellow House.
  • Lovers Canal Cruise – Find a pretty date and go for a spin on the Lovers Canal Cruise. It lasts about one hour and zig-zags through the city’s waterways. Take it right at dusk, when the setting sun casts pretty shadows over the historic buildings that line the canals.
  • Albert Cuyp – Located in the Oud-Zuid district, this is the biggest street market in the country. On any given day of the week, you can find the stalls crowded with people looking to buy anything from homemade cheese to rare antiques. You could easily spend a few hours here haggling and buying.

The Dutch have a reputation of being among the friendliest of folks around, so don’t be afraid to book a hotel and flight to Amsterdam. Just think about all the good times you’ll have and new friends you’ll meet. Sounds exciting!

But that’s not all. Get behind the wheel of one of our Amsterdam rental cars, pick out one of our Rotterdam packages, and make the 79km drive south. Three professional football teams call this city home, so please take in a match and become a hooligan for a day.

"The room was clean and cozy. The staff was very friendly. Hotel offered a nice continental breakfast and an underground parking garage. It had easy access to the subway station. What I was missing is an iron in the room. And the area around hotel looked industrial (but safe)."
