Maybe it’s 4 star for backpackers. Not a resort. Not resort style. Flat out making 2 star really. Advertised as 4. No way. And of course no cancellations.

Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. We are a Backpacker resort, however provide a range of accommodation styles from shared dorms to camping to private accommodation, with 2 bars a restaurant, 2 swimming pools and a volleyball court. We apologize if this was not apparent at the time you made your booking and when researching our property. We will be looking into how we can improve on this. Best wishes and safe travels.

Room was not what we booked

Arrived got room, no king bed as per booking. Staff argued with me about it, told me I didn't have to get mad, after she insulted mesent me to supervisor who also argued about bed size. Shared that I own two king beds and bed in room was not a king, then told me what do u want? Your money back? Poor customer service, not sure why option to chose king bed was even on wotif if there was not a bed bigger than a queen?? Not happy. Water didn't work. In room either, had to call for maintenance.

Nice enough

It's clean and tidy but I feel it could be updated. It's nice being in a garden setting and you essentially get what you pay. The staff seemed helpful

Great location and affordability

Pros: Great location
Cons: Providing bathmats, updating the amenities and bathroom sinks
Location: Excellent location right on the main street and a 10 minute walk to Abell Point Marina.
My sister and I stayed 2 nights at Base, it was a really handy location on the main street with all the cafes and restaurants. It was a 10 minute walk to Abell Point Marina where our day trip to the Whitsundays departed. The room itself was fairly average but the beds were clean and it was an easy place to stay. Airlie Beach is a lovely beachside town with a fun and happening vibe.

It get what you pay for

We always stay at The Base, good value for money. We normally hit Airlie Beach to party so we don't want to spend $200 are night on accommodation. Love that you can come and go without being fround on. And love meeting all the friendly backpackers. Good clean basic rooms with cold air. A tick from me. Also walking distance to everything.

Really for Backpackers.

Pros: Location. Just about everything at Airlie beach is within walking distance.
Cons: Maintenance of cabins.
Location: Just about everything is in walking distance. Location is this resort's big asset
Stayed in cabin. Needs maintenance. Water taps do not turn off. Mould in wardrobe.

Bad service, no untinsels, run down room

The receeptionist that checked us in was extremely rude. We then made our way to our room, it was upstairs so we had to carry all our gear up there to then realise it was the wrong room. There was no kitchen and 4 sets of bunk beds. We had booked a delux King room and it was nothing like it was supposed to be. So we put all of our stuff back in the car and went back to reception to get it sorted. Another lady served us as the receptionist that had served us earlier didn't even acknowledge us. She was a bit friendlier and put us the right room. Apparently they had put us in a Nomads room which is on the same property. No clue why they would do that as we booked with XBase for an XBase room. The room second room was alot better but not as nice as we had expected. There was no cutlery or bowls or anything in the room except a couple of mugs. The kitchen tap rumbled so much we thought it would break if we turned it up more than a little. We also didn't have a bath mat and desperately needed one as the water goes all over the floor whenever someone showers. We asked reception for one they again they were quite rude but still managed to get one to us. These things are just little but if the service was a little better and the rooms a little bit more equiped and fixed, it would've made our trip that bit better. Although the location is right on the Main Street, you could get a much nicer place for the same price just a street back which honestly is not much of a walk at all.
