"Comfy"
We had a comfortable night in with the fire place going on a chilly night. The living room in the bush cottage was massive and the bedroom was tucked away in the corner so we lifted the mattress out and spent a lovely night in front of the fire. Meaning the set up could've been better but we made it our own and enjoyed it.

    Pocket Guide: Nambour

If you like to do it all, you’ll love the Nambour region! From its central location on the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, it’s close to popular attractions like The Big Pineapple, Eumundi Markets and Australia Zoo. But that’s not the only thing to love about it. Live music, culture and market shopping are among the many things that make this hilly green town worth a visit. Book your hotel in the Nambour region with us and, pineapple or no pineapple, you’re certain to have a sweet time.

    History

With a population of around 15,500, the Nambour region was a sugar-growing hot spot from the opening of Moreton Sugar Mill in 1897 until its closure in 2003. Originally called Petrie Creek, Nambour also produced its share of fruit, corn and timber in the late 1800s.

    Things to Do

Like your fruit the way you like your fun - massive? Visit the Big Pineapple in Woombye, just a seven-minute drive from Currie Street in Nambour’s commercial centre. It’s on a 165-hectare plantation, which means sweeping views of row after row of juicy pineapple. Take the stairs inside the Pineapple’s glowing orange interior, see the plantation from one of the Nut Mobile’s macadamia-shaped carriages, or drop into the Queensland Zoo, which is now part of the Big Pineapple’s grounds. With the Big Pineapple Market happening every Saturday and the Big Pineapple Music Festival turning this place into a once-a-year party, it’s sure to really grow on you!

If animals are your thing, Australia Zoo is a 30-minute drive away and a place where the memory of Steve Irwin "The Crocodile Hunter" lives on. Visit the ‘Crocoseum’ for a clear-water view of what crocs get up to in the wild, pat a koala or catch cheetahs in action on an African savannah.

Eumundi Market, just a 17-minute drive away, is open every Wednesday and Saturday with a massive array of food, art and live entertainment to enjoy. The first Saturday of every month is the best time to go, as the markets house the biggest and best range of local produce, crafts and vintage collectables.

With plenty of cafes, restaurants, bars and take-away shops, satisfying your hunger is a breeze in Nambour. You can drop into an organic cafe, a friendly local pub, a fish and chip shop – whatever you like, really! Nambour Plaza is the shopping hub of Nambour and a convenient place for a coffee or some new threads. To score a bargain, check out one of Nambour’s op shops.

    Art and Culture

If you love culture, Nambour has artistic activities with a local flavour. The Nambour Civic Centre is a venue for music, comedy, dance and other events, and also features an arthouse cinema. Are you familiar with the Peregian Originals, a live music event in Peregian Beach? Well, Nambour has its sibling – the Nambour Originals, where local and touring artists light up the scenic amphitheatre in Quota Park. Quota Park is also the home of the annual Nambour Festival, which has local musos, cooking demonstrations and market stalls galore.

    Getting There
