Fancy a drop, or three? Then visit the Hunter Valley, one of Australia’s most famous regions for wine and other gourmet goodies. Our Hunter Valley Wine Country accommodation will give you all the time you need to explore and appreciate the beauty of this region.

The Hunter Valley has more than 150 wineries, many of them with cellar doors letting visitors drop in and have a taste or two. The region is famous for its Semillon but also produces great Shiraz, Chardonnay and Verdelho. Explore the wineries on your own or join a tour and learn more about the area and winemaking. After something a bit more filling than a glass of wine? Keep an eye out for the many restaurants in the region as these are known for their use of fresh, local produce to create delicious and decadent dishes. If you want to take some of these trade secrets home with you, attend a cooking or wine class and you’ll be a chef or sommelier in no time.

With its rolling hills and valleys, the Hunter Valley offers gorgeous scenery all year round. What better way to see the sights than to hop on a hot air balloon to watch the sun rise or set? Or if you prefer to stay close to the ground, take a horse riding tour and pack a picnic basket and share it with family or your special someone against the backdrop of vineyards.

Celebrate the Hunter Valley’s food and drink with one of the many events throughout the year. Visitors will be spoilt for choice at the classic Hunter Valley Wine Festival, held in October, which is attended by the most famous wineries in the region. If you prefer malt and hops, the Bitter and Twisted International Boutique Beer Festival in November will be more up your alley, with over 50 local and international beers on show. Fan of the arts? Visit in March for the Maitland Taste, Food, Wine and Music Festival for a great family day out or admire extraordinary artworks at Sculpture in the Vineyards in November.

The Hunter Valley Wine Country is located three hours from Sydney and less than one hour from Newcastle. Make the drive down or if you’re travelling from interstate, fly into Newcastle Airport with our cheap flights to Newcastle and take a coach or train. No matter how you get there, make your next getaway a delicious one and book your Hunter Valley Wine Country accommodation today. Go on, your tastebuds with thank you for it.
