Maui

Hawaii’s second-largest island is really four regions in one, and each region gives you some of that Maui magic.

Start in Maui’s east to watch surfers and sea turtles at Ho’okipa, then follow the Road to Hana, with 617 turns, waterfalls, banana bread stands and an unusual black sand beach. On the west side there’s whale watching, snorkelling, golf, resorts and the town of Lahaina, where a banyan tree fills a city block. In between there’s farming land, a winery and the dormant volcano Haleakala. Sunrise over that volcano is so spellbinding, you have to reserve a place to see it. Told you Maui was magic.
