This was the second time my wife and I have visited Hawaii. The last time was 20 years ago, before kids, when we went the Maui. This December we went to Waikoloa with our 14 and 16 year olds and it was a dream! The property is amazing, with a protected lagoon. They literally could swim with turtles, rays, and all kinds of fish. They also have a dolphin population right at the lagoon and you can watch them swim and play with their trainers all day long. It's pretty amazing. We stayed in a Makai garden room, which was clean and had wonderful views and easy access to the pool just outside. The onsite food options were a bit limited and were expensive, as we expected, but honestly not that bad compared to the mainland these days. You can also walk a bit less than a mile to some other options, which we did on a couple of occasions. If I can afford it, I will definitely come back to this place. And, I highly recommend it for families with older or younger kids.

This place is like a cruise ship: a shiny white toilet in the ocean. THERE IS NO BEACH HERE. Stay at the Westin which is on the beautiful beach. You need a tram to get from one area to another. They have a man made lagoon and the rentals for the canoes paddle boards and the very chairs around the lagoon cost a small fortune. There is nothing to do here at the Hilton waikiloa. Don’t stay here.

The property is stunning and our room was lovely albeit very expensive (ie $1900 Canadian with breakfast). The lua was disappointing as it’s pretty much impossible to make a group of 800 people feel special. We will definitely come back but will be watchful of prices and special events .

The resort looks beautiful in photos and videos, which is why we chose it for our family trip with two children. Unfortunately, the experience did not match the expectations. The boats advertised as transportation around the resort do not operate at all, and this is not clearly communicated. The tram is extremely slow and unreliable. On check-out day, many guests waited over 20 minutes and eventually had to walk to the lobby with luggage, which we also had to do. The room was renovated and clean, which was a plus. However, the large TV is essentially useless. There are only limited Live TV channels, all streaming services are blocked, screen mirroring does not work, and the hotel does not even offer movies for purchase. Restaurant prices are unreasonably high for the quality. A kids’ burger was USD 21, a basic hot dog USD 22, and a non-alcoholic piña colada USD 12, pasta $43. Restaurants are also not consistently open, often leaving very limited dining options. Comfortable sunbeds by the pool or lagoon cost over USD 230 and look old. Free sunbeds are hard plastic and uncomfortable. Overall, the resort feels outdated, and the pricing does not match the level of comfort or service, especially for families.

the oceanview is not good for the extra price i paid. most of the view is taken up by trees and the ocean is very far away. opt for oceanfront instead. the property grounds is very very nice and well kept. the room inside was very nice - spacious and fresh and clean, comfortable beds. the pool s are awesome for the kids. sunset view from the buddha was very beautiful every single evening. we even spotted whales off the coast during sunset. food options are not good. we tried 4 restaurants - all were only very fried and very expensive.

Staff was courteous and they put us in an awesome room. Now for the buts. They told they would text when the room was ready. The text never came. They also did not mention at checkin you can either have everyday house keeping, or every other day, or ask for service 24 hours in advance. We were out all day the 1st day and no service. We called and told us the situation and asked if we wanted service the next day. We said yes. Still no service the next day.

Wonderful, clean, green and interesting resort grounds. Breakfast was hit and miss, no beach per se but still lots of water activities is possible. Everything is quit expensive.
