Staff and check in was fine but there was a very stale smell in the room despite open window. The pillow was very uncomfortable due to plastic covers that caused pillowcase to keep sliding off leaving my face stuck to the plastic. I needed to use the toilet in the early hours of the morning and discovered a soaking wet floor due to a cracked and poorly repaired toilet bowl (literally a huge crack with some kind of large, stained sticking plaster holding it together - a health and safety nightmare) which is probably what was causing the stale odour in the room on arrival. In the morning I also noticed that all the external paintwork was shoddy and in a very poor state of repair and in need of renovation. I have photographic evidence of the damaged toilet) On the positive side, the staff were extremely apologetic about the leaking toilet and the cooked breakfast was generous and of good quality.

Rooms tired and in need of update. Be aware that if you get allocated room near restaurant the outdoor tables and chairs do not get taken in, so be prepared for noisy evening (particularly if you have to have window open).

AVOID - Homeless Hostel pretending to be a hotel.

AVOID - UNSAFE. This place is in urgent need of a re-fit. The staff confirmed the hotel is being used mainly for "Homeless People". I think the dangerous condition of the car park, stairs etc should be immediately addressed. The photo's on Hotel's.com are clearly many years old and do NOT represent the hotel correctly. I am unsure how Campanile dare charge this amount of money for such disgusting accommodation. TV works "Sometimes" Bathroom is ok but not finished. Mice evident in the room. Lots of strange people hanging around. No security. More a homeless hostel (as confirmed by hotel reception) than hotel and clearly suffers from all the associated problems. Campanile - Issue a refund - Its the right thing to do.

We have been going to the Campanile off and on for nearly 27 years and have found that the staff are always professional, polite and very friendly. The hotel is basic, but the rooms are clean and comfortable. The grounds and the building needs updating, however, there is nothing to suggest that it’s run down. The company are keeping on top of decorating and updating. The food was cooked for enjoyment and there was plenty for breakfast for the price Just a reminder to anyone staying, if you haven’t got a do not disturb notice to put on your door, in the room, ask reception for one also I understand they also have a pet in the room one as well. I would like to thank Carla, Hayley, Robyn and the rest of the staff we met as well as the manager for a stress free stay and look forward to next year

The rooms are clean and cosy. Good fresh fry up in the morning. Dog friendly, although we didnt take ours. Very friendly staff, very helpful. Great parking and just off the A127. Would definitely recommend.

The staff were really friendly both day when we arrived the lady was friendly and was really helpful. The next day the lady who sorted out our breakfast was also really friendly smiling and happy to help even though it was a full house. Great breakfast too.thank you. The beds where not comfortable at all and the rooms are really small.

cheap clean tidy, good bed and pillows. clientele mixed but can compain too much. changed my room as arrived with foot fracture, moved us around so we could have a ground floor room close to car. thank you
