The Distinction Te Anau Hotel and Villa was located in a great location. The rooms were a bit outdated but they were very clean. There was no a/c but we did get a fan that was great and could cool us down at night. We used the laundry facilities. The food both breakfast and dinner was really good.

Pros - Excellent check in and checkout, great service and breakfast was superb!! If you go for the buffet breakfast option, it's very good and everything is on there. Cons - villa was dark and dingey and despite most of the villas being empty we were placed as far away from reception as you could get and right next to a family. Wine glass had a lipstick mark on it. I expect better than this for the price but everywhere else was booked so this accommodation gets those of us that are desperate and stupid with our money.

This is an older hotel but still an enjoyable stay in Lakeside units. Room was very quiet. Breakfast included was fine. Evening dinner at hotel was lovely

Old and musky room yet spacious and comfortable. Mattress was springy! Bathroom is tiny and very outdated. Sauna was good but spa was filthy! Breakfast was lovely, appreciated the egg station. Location is great, overlooking the lake. Overall, not worth the super expensive price tag.

A nice hotel, quiet rooms with plenty of space, bit disappointed we had to ask at the end of the day why our room hadn’t been serviced when we came back from a days walking, just to have more milk, coffee etc. breakfast and bar staff excellent would definitely recommend a stay as the position of the hotel is fabulous

Great stay. We had a villa. No view. Carpet had a musty smell but other than that everything was great. Great breakfast buffet and having a sauna to use was really nice. Staff was friendly. Bed comfortable. Nice bathroom.

The interior space of the Villa Unit was laid out fine. Windows do not open and interior air flow is poor. The grounds are unkept, require significant maintenance. Frankly, the condition of the property and exterior of the Architecture is so poor, I cannot refer this property to others although the breakfast buffet was outstanding and the staff was terrific.

Stayed in a 2 bedroom villa. The bad. There was NO air conditioning. We were provided with 2 fans that did very little to cool down the rooms during the day. The windows only open a couple inches, making it impossible for provide airflow from outside. It was unbearably hot and stuffy until after the sunset around 9pm. Additionally, the room was very run down. The furniture was in need of replacement. The carpet was absolutely disgusting. We were provided with 1 remote for two TVs, but it wasn’t working. After two requests to have the remote fixed, it still did not work on one of the TVs. The good. The bathroom was updated and clean. The free breakfast was amazing. The hotel provides complimentary use of the sauna, and the pool area is very nice. The location is ideal. Very close to all the shops and restaurants. Even with the amenities I would not stay at this property again due to how uncomfortable the villa was.
