The main building is of an era and a style!! The place is only staffed at certain times so make sure you have everything checked & sorted after you arrive. The motel building is further along and looks a fright from the outside lol - hard to tell style & design from plain old upkeep lol - potentially the architect went overboard on the exterior - but don't be put off. Our room was spotless, towels & beds beautifully made, fridge on and chilled and in a very much appreciated gesture the heat pump had been turned on to warm the room as despite it being summer it was a bit cold in Taupo. The room is basic and adequate, we charged phones, watched TV, heated food, for dinner, ate breakfast, made tea, refroze our chill packs overnight and our travel food went safely into the fridge. The shower was hot. Staff were courteous, communicative and when I mistakenly drove away with the key still my pocket were exceptionally helpful for me to get it back to them. Would I stay again? Yes. The name and imagery are incongruent and provide a smile, the inside is clean, nicely presented the basics are done well, and it's good for the price. We had room 206.

When you arrive the reception building looks a bit run down. But the rooms are separate houses further away surrounded by nature and a little stream running in front. The rooms are very clean, new towels and bedsheets and the bathroom is modern and newly renovated. Also had a spa bath in a backroom. It's spacious and super quiet, apart from the singing birds. Highly recommend.

The room we had was actually pretty nice. I have read some mixed reviews but my 14 and 10 year old daughters and I found it fine for our 1 night stay in Taupo. It's further out from the town area but we had a car so wasn't too worried. The area itself did look a bit old and reception area run down but it was cheap and the shower was warm, bathroom clean, room itself was warm enough and beds fine. Would stay again if I had to.

To be completely honest I didn’t even enter the premises as it was pretty terrible and the property looked like it had been through a hurricane. It looked unsafe and dirty so I turned around and got accommodation elsewhere

Basic but neatly presented room, clean enough. Location is nice if you like a quiet area, but still close enough/short drive to key areas like Huka Falls and Taupo town centre. Soundproofing is not the best though so expect to hear your neighbour moving about. The room was listed as having a hairdryer but this was not there upon check-in. Went to ask reception the next day but reception was unmanned, so I just skipped and air-dried… no biggie, just a small irk. Parking is very easy, right outside your room on a gravel area.
