It is a neat property. The charm and quirkiness outweigh the negatives. Fox and Hound is a very neat spot with a friendly bartender. The room, specifically the bathroom, was disappointing. There is no way to turn on the shower without being sprayed with cold water, and the water sprays out making a mess. The exhaust vent was covered with dust, making me question the cleanliness of germs I can't see. The smoke detector cover was missing, and the light switch is on the far wall from the door which is not fun in the middle of the night. I would stay again, its a neat place overall, but attention to detail is lacking.

Rooms nice and clean. Bath nice. Interesting the apparent amount of pot smoked by housekeeping staff! Hallways and occasionally rooms smelled of pot sometimes.

The Cheshire Inn is a long standing hotel that is very close to Forest Park and Washington University in St Louis (WUSTL). The proximity to WUSTL was my primary reason for staying here. Good: clean comfortable rooms, nice ambiance, staff is friendly and tries to be accommodating, location is excellent with restaurants, grocery store, etc very close by and, as stated above, it is close to WUSTL. Bad: parking was hideous. I think it may have had something to do with the holiday parties at the restaurant that shares the parking lot. What took a star from this review away was the response from the front desk. The lady basically said "too bad" and "look for street parking."

I really love the Cheshire. This is my go-to hotel whenever I'm in the St. Louis area. I love the themed rooms and the themed decorating and architecture. The hotel has the amenities I want. The room was clean and well-appointed. I will add that there's no mini-fridge in the room, but I didn't need one on this trip. The staff at the front desk are friendly and professional. I recall seeing some of the same personnel that were there at my last visit earlier this year. So nice to see a familiar face behind the counter. I'll be going back!
