Great location & amenities

We stayed at University Plaza Hotel every time we come through Springfield. It's wonderful to have a hotel downtown. The fitness room is always great and the location is perfect. We always end our evening with a walk to Tie & Timber Beer Co.

I definitely liked the property. I was just disappointed with the check in process since I had to wait an hour past. Check in to get into my room after I'd already been waiting several hours since they don't allow people to check in early.

I booked my reservation on March 29, for a King size bed. When I arrived on July 17th I was given two queens because the hotel overbooked. I tried several times to change rooms, but none were available. The next morning while taking my shower, I couldn't get the shower temperature adjusted between scolding hot and freezing cold. Several people in our group "NCRS" reported the same problem. Later that day, we were given a room with a King size bed. I felt since I had made my reservation almost four months in advance, I should have gotten the room I reserved, or at least a refund.

I called down 3 times to room service to bring me towels and they never brought them up. The room did not look clean upon arrival. I let the staff know and they blew me off. For the price I paid to stay there the quality should be much better and the cleanliness. The only good thing about the place was the free shuttle.

Air conditioning was barely tolerable. The room would not cool down and it ran the whole time. We were there during our two days stay. We told the front desk and maintenance said that was cold as it would get. Was very disappointing.
