Beautiful lobby and great location for luxury shopping. However, service was a nightmare. I made a reservation for afternoon tea which was confirmed with reception at check-in, but there was a corporate event in the salon where tea was usually held. So they moved me to the 7th floor which has panoramic views, but not the same vibe as the salon. I was sitting on patio furniture and the decor was pretty basic. The staff had no idea what was going on. If they had told me in advance they were cancelling afternoon tea, I would have made other plans.
Also, upon check-out, I insisted on handling my own luggage but they took my luggage when I was settling the bill and placed it in a van for some group that i was not a part of. This was intensely stressful as I was on my way to the airport and they had no idea where my luggage went. I spotted a van and insisted they open the doors so I could check if my bags were there.
I speak Italian so this was not a case of language confusion. I think because I look Asian, they assumed I was part of a group of Asian tourists.
Never before have I stayed in a hotel where the staff was completely clueless. Very friendly, but incompetent.
Go to Bulgari or la Russie for a luxury experience. Avoid Hassler.
