Great place, Great location

This Hotel is a regular stop on our way up to go skiing. It’s centrally located so you can get to all that there is in the waterfront area. It’s very clean and the service is very good. Their breakfast is quite good and the options change from day to day.

I’m about to sound bougie but here goes. Area around this hotel is a little dicey. Obvious drug activity and some nefarious people apparently staying there as they were in lobby and riding elevators. States is a harbour view. Did not even see water once. Valet staff was odd and a little scary. Wouldn’t make eye contact. Wanted my room number. The valet parking itself is a rip off. They charge $40 USD a day to park your car 20 feet away from the door? Like why? Front desk staff did help me find free street parking which was very nice of her. Pool was mediocre, small, cold and over chlorinated. Room was clean but super uncomfortable beds and no way to turn down heat past 71 which for me is too warm to sleep. Pillows were very very thin, but they did have no problem bringing me more. Free Breakfast was decent. Overall, there were some pros but mostly cons. Honestly wouldn’t stay there again. I would stay somewhere uptown where it’s a bit safer, and more modern.

Great location, next door to the Eventide Restaurant and near the Old Port. Valet parking was convenient and easy. Staff were helpful with an added blanket, parking, and directions. Room was spacious and clean. It was just one night, but we would go back.

Great stay

I'm glad I stayed here for my quick trip to Portland. I arrived hours early but my room was ready. Staff were overall very helpful and my room was comfortable and clean. I used the fitness center every morning. I was able to sleep in and still get the free breakfast every morning. All the restaurants I wanted to visit were within walking distance. I went from Boston to Portland on Amtrak and was able to take public transit to the hotel as well.

Only one major issue in my humble opinion, parking!!! $40 fee for parking, I've stayed at hotels from Maine to California and never paid for parking. If parking is a premium in the Portland downtown area, which it appears to be, $20 would be acceptable, still a problem as far as im concerned.

Met expectations and then some!

We were very pleased with the Hampton Inn Portland Waterfront. Our room on the 5th floor had a marvelous view of the harbor - we could have spent hours watching the ferries and tugs working! The room was spacious and comfortable and had sufficient linens for the 2 of us. The buffet breakfast offered a large selection of items, but some things (oatmeal, cheese omelets, and baked goods) were pretty mediocre; the waffles, scrambled eggs, and bacon were quite good. We applaud the efforts of Hilton to be ecologically responsible - but we do wish paper cutlery in the breakfast area were replaced with bamboo and foam cups in the rooms were replaced with ceramic mugs. The price for our long weekend stay was very reasonable. We will very definitely be back for another stay!
